Description

MAX A. SKALL, 0F NEW YORK, N. Y.
DISPLAY-FIXTURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 8, 1918.
Application filed February 11, 1918. Serial No. 216,656.
To all whom may concern.'
Be it known that I, MAX A. SKALL, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York city, in the county and4 State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain improvements in the construction of display stands orcases and particularly to that class of such cases which are portable and conveniently placed on the sales counters in stores for the display of special merchandise and which also provide convenient means to advertise the merchandise which they contain and enable the customer to select a particular kind of the goods displayed.
The objects of my improvement are to provide a combined display cabinet and stand for sanitary packed goods which lare sold in boxes of which an assortment is stored in the case and a sample displayed thereon. A further object is to provide means for the customer to select one of the boxes from the assortment and remove it from the case in an easy manner.
Vith these andother objects in View the invention consists in certain novel details of construction and arrangements of parts hereinafter described. and shown and illustrated in the accompanying drawings,f.made;
part of these specifications in which- Figure I is a front elevation of my display stand and case.
Fig. II is a side elevation of the same stand.
Fig. III is a plan view of Fig. I.
Fig. IV is a side elevation in large scale of the display stand on top of the case.
Fig. V is a plan view of Fig. IV.
Similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the various views.
My display xture is preferably constructed as follows: The base plate 1, sides 2 and 3 front plates 4 and 4a and top plate 5 consist of frames or sections separately made from U shaped metal channels 6 in which panels 7 of suitable material as metal or paper covered paste board, wood or glass are mounted. Front plate 4 is preferably provided with a diamond shaped opening 8 whose edges are framed by metal channels. The side plates 2 and 3 as well as plate 4a are conveniently provided with advertising matter relating to the goods displayed. The boxes 9 containing the goods to be vended, are stacked one above the other in the-interior of the case in such a manner, that their labels indicating grade or color of the goods contained in each individual box, are displayed through opening 8 of plate 4. Each of the side plates 2 and 3 carry'at their rear upper ends a short vertical tubular sleeve 10 into which a bent rod 11 is inserted, the horizontal part 11a of this rod carryinga mirror 12 whose frame 13 is preferably soldered to rod 11a. Top plate 5 is also provided at its rear upper end with two short horizontal tubular sleeves 15 which accommodate the ends of a shaped wire frame 14 forming a hinge for the same. This Wire is shaped in such a manner that it' forms two loops 14 at its extreme front ends joined by ya horizontal part 14b between them. This frame when swung on its hinges into the position shown on the drawings supports one of the boxes, 9, opened and in slanted position, to display the goods contained therein; the loops 14.1 press slightly against the side walls 9a of ythe box clamping the same while the lower front edge 9b rests 4against the 'channel 6 of the frame of top plate 5 and the bottom 9c of the box `leans against. the horizontal bar 14b of the frame.
The use and operation of this display iixture offer many advantages. A customer may select the kind or color of the goods displayed, through the opening in the front face and push the particular box of his selection out through the open rear of the case, with his finger as indicated in Fig. II. For neckties or similar furnishings the mirror 12 forms a welcome adjunct for trying on. The display of the goods is facilitated by the adjustability of the box 9, on top of the case to any angle with the horizontal plane and the easy manner in which the box may be securely erected and clamped by loops 14n. A further advantage is to be found in the fact that the case and stand may be brought to a rectangular lshape in any direction, by removing the mirror 12 and frame 11 from the holding sleeves l0 and by removing the display box 9, which lets the frame 14 rest fiat against top plate 5 of the case. The mirror with frame 11 may then be stored in the interior of the case for packing and shipping,
Having` thus described niy invention what I claini as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: y
l. In a display fixture of the kind described, a casing adapted to inclose a stack of containers in parallel alinement on vertical sides, an apertuienear the center of tvlie lfront side of said casing, adapted to display a plurality of superimposed containers and providing means for extrusion of a selected container from its position between adjacent containers and providing ni'eaiisi'or eitrftV sion of one of said' containers from: its position' between adjacent coi'itafiiieis tli'roiigib the rearside of said casing; a Wire frame to support one of said ,containers above said casing. means on said c'asiiig' for pivotal attachment of 'said franie andv Vinde'pendeiit clamping means on said" traine to l'iold said container.`
B. ln' a display fixture of tlie kind de',- scribed, a casing adapted to inclose a stak of containers in parallel a'lii'ieiiient an 0`p`en` i-i'igy in the front side of said casiiigto display a plurality of containers for' select-ion and provi'd'iiigv means" to' 'eXti'ude one' of said" cons' tainers from' itspositionV betvve A adjacent coi'itai'iiersthroug'li tlie'oiien rear side of saidc'asing, hinges on"l said casing holding a Wire frame by the ends of its Wire aridindependl entv means on said -frame to clainp one of said containers to said frame and vary its slanted position on said casing.
d. 11i a device of tlie kind described7 a casing, a box supported on saidcasing` in variable slanted position, tubular members attached to said casing, a Wire frame rotatably mounted in said tubular members by tlie ends' of SaidI Wire and friction Ymeans formed by intermediate parts of said Wire to rotatably clamp said box toV said frame and to" vary tlie inclination" of said'` boX on said casing. Y y
5. In a device of the kind described casing a boX supported in variable" slanted position on sa'i'd casing' a-Wire iframe rotatably attached' to said "casing, bent to provide a 4horizontal bar for the' support Vo'i'ftlie back yo'f'sa'id box' andI pair oi' loops at the ends'Y of said liorizontalbar forli "ii'gf rictioiial' meafns to engage tlie'sid'esof said bo-Xf and to permit sliding a'nd angular adjustment 'ofi' said box on said casing. I
V(-Iii' a; display y l 'scribed al casing adapted to exhibit a plurality of boxesaii'd providii'ig means for exi 'trusion of oiieb said boXes from'ijts position. between adjace'ii'tones; and one oiisaid'fboxes being removably joinedr to the top plajte of said casi-n, a" substantially rectangular frame-formed by a coiitinu'oii'svv Wire; liinged to said casiiigand provided with' loops bent iii tlie plaire of sa'ifd fram' at its ree corners,
