To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, RUDOLPH KQTKAS, a citizen of the United States of Ameica, residing at Portland, State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Circuit-Closer Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference be.- ing had therein to the accompanying drawin V This invention relates to a burglar alarm and has for its object the production ofa simple and eflicient means for causing an alarm to be sounded should a person step upon the floor under which the alarm is placed.
Another object of this invention is the production of a simple and eflicient circuit closing means used in connection with the alarm.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed,

y referrin to the drawings it will be seen that 1 designates the floor which is supported upon the usual main beams or joists 2. One of the joists 2 is provided with a secondary beam or joist 3 spaced from the main beam or joist 2 as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. A hanger yoke 4 is secured to the under face of the secondary beam or joist 3 and this hanger yoke 4 supports a contact lever 5. This contact lever 5 is provided with an upturned end 6 having an aperture 7 formed therein throu h which aperture 7 passesthe hanger mem er 4 for supporting the contact lever or member 5. ing provided with an eye 11 at one end and a contact knob 12 at the other end. The eye 11 is connected to one end of a coil spring 13 and the opposite end of this coil spring 13 is anchored in engagement with a binding post 14 carried by the floor 1.
A gageplate 15 is pivotally mounted upon the joist 2 bynieans of a pivot pin 16 and this gage plate 15 is provided with a rolled portion 17 which rolled portion fits down into a notch 18 formed in the upturned end 6 of the lever 5 for the purpose of swinging the lever 5 as the gage plate 1 5 is swung thereby swinging the upper end of the lever into an ad usted relation with respect to the contact spring 19. The gage late 15 is provided with a pair of parallel depending fingers 20 which fingers are adapted to fit around a screw 21 which screw 21 supports a thumb nut 22 for threading upon the screw 21 and holding the gage plate 15 in an adjustable position.
A contact spring 19 above mentioned is secured to the beams or joists 2 by means of the binding posts 23, the spring 19 having. laterally extending ends 24 as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. One of the binding posts 23 is connected to a wire 25 which wire 25 may be rovided with a suitable switch 26 to permit the alarm to be thrown ofl or on according to the will of the operator and thereby permitting the alarm to remain inoperative durin certain period of time when it is desire to walk upon the floor without sounding the alarm. The wire 2-5 is connected to a battery 27 and this battery 27 is connected to a wire 28 the wire 28 being in turn connected to the bell 29. This bell 29 is connected to the binding post 14 by means of a wire 30.
From the foregoing description it is to be understood that the spring 13 is but a small copper coil for the purpose of carrying the electric current in order to make the circuit,
