UNITED STATES HENRY W. BOOTH, OF TORONTO, CANADA.
IMPROVEMENT IN LOZENGE PACKAGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,011, dated June 18, 1872.
Specification describing a new anduseful Improvement in Lozenge Package, invented by HENRY W. BOOTH, of Toronto, Ontario, Dominion of Canada.
This invention relates to a new method of putting up confectionery; and consists in a box package, consisting of lozenges, twenty- Y four or more in number, of two diii'erent colors or shapes, to be used as men, and a checker or draught-board of paper, the latter being folded to the size of the box, the package being designed to contain all that is necessary for playing a game of checkers or draughts.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents avertical section of the package. Fig. 2 is a bottom view of the same, the lozenges being seen in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a section of the checker-board with the usual number of squares printed on paper-cloth or other ilexible material. l
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.
In this example of my invention the alternate squares of the checker-board contain advertisements, making the checker-board an advertising medium; but I do not confine myself to any particular kind of board so long as it is made of paper, textile, brous, or iiexible material, which allows it to be folded up, so
as to be placed in the box and form a part of the package.
A in theA drawing represents the lozenges or mem twenty-four in number, twelve of each kind, colors, or shapes, so as to be readily distinguished from each other; D, the checkerboard. E is a box, madeof paper or any other material, of convenient size and proportions for containing the lozenge men and the checkerboard.
I do not conne myself to any particular sizes, shapes, or colors for the lozenges, nor to any particular kind of flexible checkerboard, nor kind of box, as many variations may be made in either without departing from my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The package A, containing lozen ges and a checker-board, substantially as and for the purposes described.
2. The lozen ges B and checker-board D, constructed as described, and combined to form' a package, substantially as herein shown and described.
Witnesses: H. W. BOOTH.
