J. VEIT.
ADJUSTABLE suEPom Foa CEMENT MoLns.
APPLICATION FILED FEB. 20. 1918.
Patented Sept. 24?, 1918.
UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
J'ULIUS VEIT, OF CINCINNATI, OI-IIO.
ADJUSTABLE surroa'r Fon CEMENT-Moms.
Application filed February 20, 1918.
T0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JULIUs VEIT, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Supports for Cement-Molds, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to adjustable supports for concrete molds, and one object is to provide a device of the character indicated which may be used in a horizontal or vertical position, for supporting the molds or forms used in concrete construction.
A further object is to provide an adjustable supporting device in which the movable elements may readily be shifted with reference to each other for varying the effective length of the device, and a supporting member which may be made of any required size for sustaining a predetermined load.
A still further object is to provide a device of the class indicated which may readily be collapsed for transportation, and one which may also be used as a strut for any purpose for which it may be required.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of elements hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings: y
Figures 1 and 2 are views in elevation from different angles. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section of the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a main frame designated 10 including a plurality of side members 11 and 12 spaced apart by means of a suitable rectangular member 13, secured by bolts 141 passing through corresponding ends of the members 11 and 12. l
One of the side members 12 carries on its inner surface a rib 15 acting as a guiding member and engaging a groove 16 in the slidable member 17. This member last named comprises a plurality of parallel bars 18 and 19 spaced apart by means of a block or the like 2O secured by bolts 21 between the outer ends of said bars 18 and 19.
The slot in slidable member 17 provides for the passage lthrough members 11 and 12 of transverse bolts 21 and 22 which may be Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 21, 1918.

tightened to any required e-Xtent for retaining the slidable member or leg 17 in the required position after adjustment has been secured.
The bolts last named are each passed through a plate 24 on the member 11, the plates last named having upwardly extending flanges on the longer side thereof. These flanges serve to protect the nuts and the threads from injury.
In order to protect the device from the effects of moisture, it may be covered with distilled coal tar.
What is claimed is:
1. In a device of the class described, a plurality of parallel members, spacing means between correspondingM ends of said members, securing means passing Vthrough said ends of the spacing means, a guiding device carried by one of the parallel members, an adjustable leg between the parallel members and engaging the guide, said leg being provided with a longitudinal groove accommodating said guide and with a longitudinal slot in alinement with the groove, and engaging means passing through said slot and through the parallel members, the engaging means comprising a plurality of bolts or the like, flanged plate members secured to one of the parallel members and provided with apertures for the bolts, and plates carried by the oppositely located parallel members, and each provided with an aperture for one of the said bolts.
2. In a device ofthe class described, a plurality of parallel members spaced apart, a guide on the inner side of one of said members, a plurality of adjustable engaging devices, extending transversely through said members, and a leg member located between the parallel members and rigidly clamped thereby, but having free movement upon loosening the engaging devices, said leg member.. comprising longitudinal members spaced apart and cross pieces connecting the members last named, Vone of said members being proportioned for coperation with the guiding device, and the slot formed by the spacing of the longitudinal members also cooperating with the guiding device.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JULIUS VEIT.
