Be it known thatl, JAMns W. RAMBDELL, a citizen of-the United States, residing ct. Highland Park, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Drinking-Fountains, of which, the following is a specification.

This invention relates to drinking fountains, and especially to that type of fountain known as bubble cup, although having con elder-able dill'erences from the bubble ang e as ordinarily used. Such cups as common y used have a central mouth piece with o jet.

This is unsanitary, because there is efpossibility that bacteria or germs may be le ten the mouth piece or upon the parts which come in contact with the faces of the users. The object of the present invention is to provide a drinkingfountain which is free from these objections, and this is accomplished by causing the jet to flow in a curve from the cup or bowl, from an orifice so located that the month of the user cannot be applied thereto; bntthe drinker drinks at the crest of the stream several inches from the jet opening, and, furthen more, the water after it posses'his lips-does not flow over or upon the mouth piece, but goes at once to waste. By the means described a sanitary drinking fountain is provided, free from any possibility of contamination.

The invention is illustrated in the ac eonrpnnying drawings in wl1ich- Figure 3. is c section of the fountein.

In the side wall of the bowl, preferably at the end of its longer axes, is a jet orifice 8, to which water is supplied through a passage 9 from ,a supply pipe 10, controlled for example by a push valve 11. The locntion and direction of the orifice 8 is such that a stream issuing therefrom will describe t parabola within the cup, with its crest or highest point at about the level of the rim of the cup, and about the center thereof, the stream finally striking the opposite end of the cup and. flowing to waste. The location of the jet opening 8 is such that it is racticelly impossible for the lips of the drinker tobe applied thereto, but the jet rising to the position described 13 in such location that the Y mouth of the drinker can be readily applied thereto. The waste from the lips; of the drinker falls directly into the cup, and out through the waste pipe and does not by any nenner oimeene come in contact with the et opening or pass over or around the seine.
