HENRY FALK, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT.
STOVEPIPE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 17, 1918.
Application filed December 4, 1917. Serial No. 205,322.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY FALK, aV citizen of the United States, residing at Waterbury, county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stovepipes, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in stove pipes.
The primary object of the present invention is the provision of a stove pipe which is readily applicable to a stove of any ordinary type, and which can be quickly set up or taken down as desired.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a stove pipe, which can be readily adjusted to accommodate different distances between the stove and the chimney.
A further obj ect of the invention is the provision of a stove pipe having the several sections thereof rotatable relative to each other, and means for locking the said sections against displacement.
A still further object of the invention, resides in the provision of a stove pipe to accomplish the above desiderata, which will be comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efficient in its use, and readily operable.
With the above and other objects in View, the present invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of the present application, and in which- Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view taken through a stove pipe constructed in accordance with one form of the invention;
Figs. 2 and 3 are transverse sectional views taken on the lines 2-2 and 3-3 of Fig. l;
Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of one of the locking devices shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a horizontal sectional View taken on the line 5 5 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference throughout the several views, the numeral 10 denotes in general the stove pipe comprising the section 11 which is secured directly to the stove and the sections 12, 13, `14 and 15, mounted thereon.
The upper end of the section 13, fits within the flange 16 of the section 14, while the lower end of the section 13 is contracted as at 17, to snugly engage the outer side of the section 12. The interior of the section 13 is provided with spacious devices 18 which permit of the ready sliding of the two sections 12 and 13 relatively to each other.
The section 15 is provided with a spaced flange 19, while the upper end of the section 14 is curved as at 20. Locking devices 21 are secured within the flange 19 and are provided with springs 22 which engage the curved portions or grooves 20 of the section 14:, thus preventing displacement of these two sections yet permitting their rotation.
vThe springs 22 are supported by pins 22 which extend from the plates or members 21.
Obviously, the pipe constructed in accordance with the foregoing description, can be readily adjusted to fulfil the necessary requirements of such a device.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be manifest that a stove pipe is provided which will full all of the necessary requirements of such a device, and it should be understood in this `connection that various minor changes in the specific details of construction can be resorted to within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is :V
A stove Pipe comprising a plurality of sections one of which has a depending flange adapted to receive the end of the other section, the received end ofthe other section having a groove therein, locking devices carried within the flange and engaging the groove, and the said locking devices including plates secured to the flange within-the same, pins projecting from the plates and springs carried by the pins.
In testimony whereof I have aliixed my signature.
HENRY FALK.
