WEBER, a citizen of the United States, residing atSacra'mento, in the county of Sacramento and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil and Dust Pro'of Journal-Boxes, of which the following is a specification.
- This invention relates to improvementsin' journal boxes andthe principal object is to provide an oil and dust proof box which will thoroughly protect the journal, hearing from injury Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a novel'cover plate and cap for the journal box.
' With the above and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, 'the'invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts as will be fully set forth in the following specification, claimed andillustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

In a journal box, a gasket comprising a pair of plates, each having an axle receiving recess formed in one end, the plates fitting together so as to cause the recesses to forman opening through which the axle fits, means to force one of the plates against the axle and means to yieldably hold the plates together.
2. In a journal box, a gasket comprising a pair of plates, flanges on the plates, the flanges being extended beyond the ends of the plates, the ends of the plates beyond which the flanges extend being recessed to receive an axle, the plates beingslidable on.
