X M L fro/012 i AM. Pl/DfU-HTHDGRAPf/(C 89. M X [098081153 P506555) UNITED STATES PATENT Orr-10E.
ELI BEAVER, OF' ROKEBY, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN WATER-ELEVATORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,745, dated June 11, 1872,
SPECIFICATION.
My invention relates to a novel arrangement of a sliding delivery-trough with a wellcurb, as hereinafter described.
Description of the Accompanying Drawing.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a plan embodying my invention, and represents the curb with one of its sides removed, showing the interior arrangement of the different parts of my water-elevator as they are when in a working combination. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the delivery-trough, composed of a spout, i, and an enlarged part designed to cover the opening J. The spout is made of sufficient length to protrude through the side of the curb, and when the bucket is to be lowered the spout is drawn out so as to uncover opening J. So
soon as the bucket is again elevated the trough is pushed in and the bucket lowered to allow it to rest in the trough and occasion the delivery of its contents by means of the valve 9.
By this arrangement tilting or lateral movement of the bucket is obviated; the troughspout does not protrude when water is not being drawn, and no filth can get access to the well.
To operate the bucket, I employ a strap, F, passing over pulleyE and winding around a Windlass, B, which is locked by a lever, Gr.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The trough D provided with spout i, and arranged to slide in and out of the curb to operate in conjunction with the bucket'O and opening J, as set forth.
ELI BEAVER.
