have invented a lawand useful Drin'king Fountain, of which'the following is a speclinvention relates to improvements in M. 'drinlring fountains of the type known as sanitary, and resides in a bowl and a nozzle 4 of peculiar construction, the bowl being hereinafter-set forth. Y
- The objects of my invention are, first, to produce a simple, durable, comparatively inexpensive,-and highl efiicient fountain,

The axis of the nipple 9 is the same as that which is common to the sleeve 11 and nipple 10.
It will now be seen that the supply of;
water to the fountain enters at the opening 5 and passes through the passages 7 and 8 and the continuation of the passage 8 in the sleeve'll and dome 12, through the openings 13, and out throughthe nozzle 10. It i will be seen further, that, owing to the loregulated, by the means to which reference has been made, to insure the deflection of said stream to the'necessary extent before the Water is projected beyond theedge of the bowl. A stream of water and its possible course are indicated by broken line at 14:, in Fig. 2. The point at which the mouth is applied to the stream of water for drinking purposes is, for obviously necessary reasons,
and especially in view of the presence of the guard rail 2, at such a distance from the outlet of the nozzle 10 that no portion of said stream with which the lips of the person drinking come in contact does or can return -'to the orifice whence the stream comes, that is to say, the said outlet of the nozzle. The stream 14 rises obliquely from the nozzle 10 and is projected to a point approximately above the center of the bowl 1, at or a little beyond which point preferably the'mouth is applied for drinking purposes. After passing the aforesaid point the stream 14: describes a more or less sharp curve and falls into the bowl 1 at some distance from the nozzle 10; The water in the bowl escapes through the passage 6. The guard rail 2, which is annular, is supported from a flanged ring 15 by a plurality of radial,.oblique arms 16, said ring being screwed on to therim ofthe bowl 1, and
' said rail being smaller in diameter than said rim. A drinking fountain comprising abowlhaving a bottom inlet and a lateral passage therein and provided in the bottom with a' nipple which rises from and stands above said bottom, said nipple being located at a point remote from the center of said bowl, and communicating through said passage with said inlet, 'a sleeve mounted on said nipple, said sleeve having a perforated dome, and a nozzle mounted on said sleeve and arranged with its axis oblique to the axis of said bowl, said sleeve and nozzle extending above said nipple.

A drinking fountain comprising a bowl having a base with inlet passages therein, and provided in the bottom at one side of the center with a nipple which communicates With said passages, a sleeve mounted on said nipple, said sleeve having a perforated dome, a nozzle mounted. on said sleeve, said nipple, sleeve and nozzle being arranged so that the axis common to such members is oblique to the axis of said bowl, and a guard consisting of a ring mounted .on the rim of said bowl, an annular railfand arms between said ring and rail.
