UNITED STATES DANIEL J. CLARK, OF EVANSVILLE, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN CASTERS FOR SEWING-MACHINES.
Specification formingpa-rt of Letters Patent No. 127,571, dated June 4, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL J. CLARK, of Evansville, in the county of Vanderburg and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Caster; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a caster for sewing-machines, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, A represents a metal bar having its ends bent upward at right angles, one end, B, extending upward for a suitable distance above the other end, O. Through the long end or arm B passes a set-screw, D, by means of which the device can readily be attached to and removed from the leg of a sewing-machine. In the center of the bar A, on the under side, is, by a rivet, a, pivoted or swiveled a frame, G,-in which the roller J is placed, thus the whole forming a swiveled removable caster, which can readily be attached and detached, at pleasure.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the bar A with ends B G, bent upward at right angles, set-screw D, swiveled frame G, and roller J, substantially as and'for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 2d day of May, 1872.
- DANIEL J. CLARK.
