State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inCut-Os;
and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, such as will en'able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to `make This invention relates tion, and more particularly to a water spout cut-0E and clean-out device.
It is one of the objects of the present invention to provide a simple, cheap, practicable and substantial device for use in connection with drain spouts, whereby the ow of water through the drain spout may be led t0 or cut off from the lower section of the pipe which may be led, for instance, to a cistern where thewater. may be lcollected when desired, and further to provide a slip joint whereby the water may be diverted from its generalcourse to the cistern to any other Aoutside discharge point as may bedesired. o Y f It is a further object of the present invention'to provide a cut-oil' joint which vmay be readily wholly removed from the rain spout pipe and which is essentiallydetached there# from but adapted to be telescopically tted upon adjacent ends of the pipe sections so `as to provide for the connection of the spaced ends of the pipe to complete a line of flow therethrough when desired, and which may 'be entirely removed so as to permit the flushing of the lower section vof the pipe where it may lead to a cistern, and Yalso to allow a clean-out ofthe lower section of the pipe, andl further permits the insertion of a hose or otherflushing means into the upwardly extending portionof'the pipe above the cut-off device'so that the upper portion may be cleaned in case of necessity.; Y 7 1 .It is a further object ofthe invention to provide a cut-'OH-and:` clean-outldevice comprising a frame lportion which may be-rig- Y p idly secured to an adjacenthouse or'other wall orfsupportand to which thecontiguous spaced ends of the spout pipes may be readily` secured in a firm and substantial man-` ner' without the necessity of soldering.v s ,A A VithV theseand other objects in view, one: 5;5; embodiment of Y*my present invention is dise Specification of Letters Patent. i

T o that end -I'have 'provided an intermediate wholly detached slip joint section 15 of a length permitting it to be slidably telescoped exteriorly at its upper and enlarged end 16 over the contracted and downwardly projecting portion of the upper nipple as at 9 which extends below. the top shelf 7. Then the slip joint section 15 has .been thus assembled at the lower end of the upper nipple, it is then swunginwardly between the flanged sides of the frame 5, if the latter be provided with flanges, to the position shown in Fig. 1', when the lower end 17 of the slip joint section 15 is lowered into the open upper end of the lower nipple 10 thereby establishing direct connection between the upper and lower pipes Preferably the relative diameters of the ends of the joint section 15 with respect to their complementary nipples 8 and 10 are adapted to make a good, snug, practically water-tight joint.-v hen it is desired to cut olf the flow of water through the spout pipe 2 3, it is only necessary to lift the cut-off section 15 slightly so as to'remove it from telescopic engagement with the nipple 10 and swing or tilt it slightly forwardly while still engaging the lower end of the nipple S, Vand thenlowervit so as to permit the lower end 17 ofthe section 15 to; bear against a suitable seat portion 2O providedatthe front edge of the Vlower shelf orv plate member 7.

Obviously I do not desire to be limited to any specilic'means for securing the inter- Vout and flushing purposes .of the adjacent engagement of the cut-olf section 15 with the plate 7 or with the lower nipple 10 when it is disposed in the cut-off position, and I have illustrated only a simple and practicable means by which the interengagement of these members is secured.
From the above it will be seen that I have provided a substantial and ineXpensively manufactured 'cut-off device adapted to be readily installed in a practicable and substantial manner, and which involves Va cut-olf section adapted tov be wholly'removed from the spout sections 2 and 3 when desired so as to afford free access for clean ends of the pipe, and which, being wholly detachable from these devices, may be read` ily removed without requiring the kdetachment of any inherent vfastening devices.

1. A drain spout connector and cut-off including a back panel adapted tobe secured to a contiguousY support and having at its ends integral brackets carrying alined nipples engageable with the ends of sectionsV of a line of spout-piping, side flanges bracing said brackets, and a detached, adjustable eut-off.
2. A drain spout connector and cut-ofi:l including a frame adapted to be secured to a contiguous support and having at its ends alined nipples engageable with aline of spoutpiping, and a detached connecting joint telescopically adjustably engageable with the adjacent ends ofthe nipples in one position and adapted to be set in' a cut-off position between said nipples, said frame having a lower bracket witlr an arcuate seat atits front edge to support the lowered joint in eut-olf position. j

A drain spout connector and cutoff comprising a frame having upper andflowel brackets with alined nipplesfor connection A with and supporting spout-piping ends, and a cut-off joint slidably and externallytelescoping over the upper nipple to permit alined or angular relation thereto while as? sociated, and adapted to telescope internally in the lower nipple to make a substantially tight joint while in connected relation with the nipples, the jointbeing freely removable to permit cleaning of the pipef 1.
