. UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRY H. HART AND WILLIAM S. HART, 0F SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA.
NAPKIN-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 6, 1918.
Application filed December 10, 1917. Serial No. 206,522.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that we, HARRY H. HART and WILLIAM S. HART, both citizens of the United States, residing at Sacramento, in the county of Sacramento, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in. Napkin-Holders; and we do de in holders for napkins and is particularly designed for use in cafeterias or restaurants, or places of a similar character, or in fact any place found desirable.
The object of the invention is to provide a holder for a plurality of napkins so constructed that while an individual napkin may be easily and quickly removed from the pile at will in any direction, the other members of the pile will remain intact. The advantages of this will be readilyapparent to those skilled, in the art.
It is also further designed to provide the public with-a ready and efficient means for the delivery of the napkin which will be both practical and ornamental.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects, we accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of the parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim.
The figure of the drawing is a side elevation of our improved napkin holder.
Referring now more particularly to. the characters of reference on the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the base, which is hollowed out as shown at 2, for stability, and can be secured to the table by a screw 3 if it is so desired.
From the base 1 is projected a support 4 which are being lightly held on the on which we fasten a disk 5 by means of small screws 6.
The numeral 7 represents the na kins isk 5 by a ball-bearing wei ht 8, permitting the napkins to be 'pulle in either direction without tearing or disturbing the remaining ones. This weight 8 is secured to a rod 9 slidable in a guide 10, which, is held in vertical position by the arms 11. These arms 11 are fastened on the disk 5, as shown at 12.
At a convenient point on the support 4, we provide a salt and pepper holder 13.
From the foregoing specification it will readily be seen that we have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the objects of the invention as set forth herein.
While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice, such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as what we claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: D g
A napkin holder comprising a circular base plate, a pair of spaced arms fixed to and conformin to the curvature of the base plate and archin over the same, a bearin supported centra 1y between the arms, an a sliding weight guided vertically throu h the bearing, the base bein arranged to ho d a stack. of napkins in suc manner that the curvature of the arms will prevent lateral displacement thereof while the weight Wlll. prevent undesired vertical displacement of the same from the stack.
In testimony whereof weaflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
