Description

J. E. EID.
CONCRETE MOLD.
APPLICATION FILED Ausza me.
Patented July 30, 1918.
E E ta UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB E. EH), 0]? FLAMING, MINNESOTA.
CON CRETE-MOLD.
Application filed August 29, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB E. EU), a citizen of the United States, residing at Flaming, in the county of Norman and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ConcreteMolds, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in concrete molds, more particularly of the type designed for the fashioning of halfround. sections as for culverts, conduits, and the like.
The invention consists in an inner and outer shell, face-plates for closing their edges, and crossbar-s for holding the mold in shape, with means for temporarily fastening the shells or sections detachably together.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a view in perspective; Fig. 2 is a top plan view; and Fig. 3 is a detail. The numerals 1 and 2 represent outer and inner shells respectively, made preferably.
of sheet-metal bent into form, one to mold the outer and the other the inner surface of the half-round section. Face- plates 3, 3, are riveted or otherwise secured to the crossbars e, 4, one face-plate being convex, and the other concave to form the well-known tongue and groove edges of the sections, as shown in Fig. 2. These cross-bars are also Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 117,479.
riveted or otherwise secured, as at 7, by angle- irons 6, 6.
The outer shell 1 is removably secured to the outer ends of the cross-bars by the pivoted hooks 5.
Handles 8 are placed on the rear side of the outer shell 1 for convenience in handling.
The operation is as follows :The shells of the mold are fastened together, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and placed on a level piece of ground, or board. Then the space is filled with concrete and tamped well, after which the hooks 5 are released, and, by manipulating the handles 8, 8, the outer shell 1 is removed carefully, so as not to disturb the concrete. Then the inner shell is removed by taking hold of the cross-bars, thus leaving the half-round block or section completed.
I claim:
A mold composed of two shells fashioned into form, cross bars secured to the inner shell of greater length than the space to be left between the shells, face plates secured to these cross bars and hooks pivoted to the edges of the outer shell in position to engage the protruding ends of the cross bars whereby to lock the inner and outer shells and face plates together.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
JACOB E. EID.
