With a view toward providing improved gnated in its entirety by the numeral-15 1s. vemployed. This cover consists of an inner section 16 pivoted through the instrumentality of hinges. 17'tothe upper edge of the extension 6 on the rear wall, the outer edge thereof being designed to terminate short of the front Wall for a purpose that will V i 1100 the cover has one surface adjacent one end ,7 j
become apparent. The outer section 18 of reduced forming a transverse shoulder 19 at which point it is pivoted to the outer end of the other section through the instrumentality of hinges while the opposite surface is designed to support a mirror 21. By this arrangement it will bea preciated that the sections16 and 18 when olded in superposed relation with each other as indicated in Fig. 3 and when restingon the upper edges of the side walls and the front Wall form a complete closure for the receptacle 1 whereas on the other hand when the section" 16 is swung upwardly and the section 18 swung outwardly so that the inner edge engages the upper edges of the side wall, the mirror 21 carried by the inner face of this section is capable of being supported in various positions of adjustment for the convenience of the owner.
In actual practice the receptacle'and cover may be plush covered and lined while suitable catch .means such as indicated by the numeral 22 may be mounted on the outer "end of the section 18 in the adjacent front wall for removably holding the sectional cover in a folded position so as toentirely close the receptacle and prevent accidental displacement of the contents.
In View of the foregoing description it is thought that a further detail description of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of this invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, and it is'intendcd that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawingsshall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limited sense. It is also to be under,-
stood that the language used in the following claims is intended to cover all the generic and specific features of the invention herein described and all statements of the scope of the invention which, as a matter of "language might be said to fall therebetween. Having thus described this invention,
copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by. addressing the Washington, D. 0. r
cover embodying two, sections one of which is pivoted to the inner end of the receptacle and terminates short of the other end, while the other section is pivoted at a point adjacentits outer end to the outer end of the first section and is foldable to intimately contact with the inner face of the first section to cooperate with the first section in completely closing the receptacle and upon the raising of the first section is swingable outwardly so as to be supported in various positions of adjustment upon the upper edges of the receptacle and be braced by the first seotion,'and a mirror carried'by the last section. v v 2. A deviceof the character described including a receptacle provided with a plurality of compartments adapted to receive articles, an extension formed on the rear wall of the receptacle, a foldable sectional cover composed of two sections one of the I sections being pivotally connected to the extension and terminating short of the front wall of the receptacle, the other section being reduced on one surface adjacent one end to provide a transverse shoulder, means for pivotally' connecting the second section at a point adjacent theshoulder to the outer end of the first section to permit of the arrangement of the sections in superposed relation on the upper edge of the receptacle to completely close the receptacle and to per mit of the swinging of the second section outwardly so as to be supported at various inclinations on the upper edge of the, receptacle by the first section, and a mirror carried by the opposite face of the second section.
