FIG
earner ANDREW HALUSKA, OF WHITING, INDIANA.
PROVISION-SAFE SUPIPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 2'7, 1921.
Application filed september 1921.- Serial No. 504,070.
' T 0 all w ham it may concern Be it know that I, Anonnw HALUsnA, a citizen of. the United States of America, residing at W'hiting, in the county of Lake and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Provision- Safe Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in provision safe supports and has particular reference to an improved means for supporting provision safes in position adjacent the window of a dwelling so that the safe may be moved through the window opening to the interior of the dwelling for convenient access by a person within the dwelling or to a position outside of the dwelling at one side of the window when access to the provision safe is not desired.
The primary object of the invention is to generally simplify and improve devices of the above 7 kin Another object of the invention is to attach a provision safe to a supporting platform of lazy tong construction whereby extension of the support while maintaining proper supporting relation with the provision safe is had.
Other objects will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, and the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which like characters of reference indicate .corresponding parts throughout the-severalviews.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 shows a portion of ,a dwelling in horizontal section and a support in accordance with the present invention operatively associated therewith illustrated in top plan extended inwardly through a window,
Fig. 2 is a view partly broken away, partly in vertical section and partly inside elevation of a device shown in Fig. 1 with the support arranged outside of the dwelling and extending perpendicularly to the wall of the latter,
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken upon line III--III of Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 is a view somewhat similar to Fig. 1 showing the support swung to one side of the window opening entirely out of the way exteriorly of the dwelling, and
Fig. 5 is a front elevational View of the safe and its supporting platform.
Referring more in detail to the several views, the present invention preferably includes a bracket 5 having a vertical base adapted to be suitably fixed against the outer wall 6 of a dwelling to one side of the window opening having a window frame 7, said bracket 5 being provided with a pair. of
superposed arms 8 in the outer ends of which is disposed a vertical pintle 9 about which-a hub 10 is rotatable. 'The hub 10 is attached to one end of a straight rod 11 and another similar hub 12 is attached to the other end of said rod 111 as well as being mounted upon a vertical pintle 13 journaled between a platform 14:; and upwardly inclined braces 15 secured to said platform. The platform 14 is of lazy tong construction including crossed pivotally connected bars 14; preferably of angle ironor channel iron or both, and the pintle 13 preferably provides for the pivotal connection between two of said bars and one end'of the platform as clearly shown in Fig. 2. V
The hub is preferably provided with a pivoted or other catch 16 arranged to engage in a desired one of the notches 17 formed in the outer end of the upper bracket arm 8 for maintaining the arm 11 in any wall, the first named position being that assumed by the rod or arm 11 when access is desired to the provision safe and the other two positions being selectively used as .occasion may dictate. V l
The provision safe is generally, denoted by the numeral 18 and may be of any well known construction wherein access is had to the interior of the same through a front door 19 which faces that end of the platform 14 which is opposite to the end adjacent which the hub 12 is positioned. This remote or free end of the platform is preferably provided with a loop 20 which may be grasped for extending the platform and for swinging the latter, and the bottom wall 21 of the safe is preferably fastened to the platform 14 by means of a bolt 22 which 1 return of the provision safe to a point within the dwelling whenever access to said safe is desired.
From the foregoing description, it is believed that the construction and operation as well as the advantages of the present invention will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art, and minor changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
What is claimed as new is: p
in combination with a provision safe having a bottom wall, a horizontal platform of'lazy tong construction upon which the bottom wall of said provision safe rests, a bolt pivot-ally connecting the bars of said platform near one end and engaging the bottom wall of the provision safe to hold the latter upon said platform, a bracket adapted to be secured to the outer face of a dwelling wall at one side of a window open ing of said dwelling, and a rod having one end pivotally mounted for horizontal swinging movement on said bracket and having the other end thereof pivotally connected to the other end of said blatforni.
2. in combination with a provision safe having a bottom wall, a horizontal platform of lazy tong construction upon which the bottom wall of said provision safe rests, a bolt pivota'lly connecting the bars of said platform near one end and engaging the bottom wall of the provision safe to hold the latter upon said platform, a bracket adapted to be secured to the outer face of a dwelling wall at one side of a window opening of said dwelling, a rod having one end pivotally mounted for horizontal swinging movement on said bracket and having the other end thereof pivot-ally eonnectedto the other end of said platform, and means associated with said rod and said bracket to hold the rod against swinging movement when disposed in either direction parallel to said wall or perpendicularly to the latter.
' L. In a device of the class described, an extensible lazy tong platform having a provision safe secured thereon near one end of the same,a handle for the platform at said end, and means connected to the other end of said platform and adapted to be secured to the outer face of the wall of a dwelling for permitting movement of the platform into and out of a window opening.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
ANDREW HALUSKA.
