AUGUST POHL, (ANNA G. POHL, ADMINISTRATRIX,) OF BROOKLYN, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN EXTENSION WlNDOW-CORNICES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,367, dated May 28, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST, POHL, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Extension Window-Cornice; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference beiug had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a back View, partly in section, of said improved window-cornice. Fig. 2 is a top view, partly in section of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section on an enlarged scale of the same, taken on the line 0 c, Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new cornice to be put against the inner sides of windowframes, and has for its object to make such cor11ices"exte11sible by simple means. The invention consists in the use of a grooved center-piece, into which the end pieces are fitted adj ustably.
A in the drawing represents the central section of my improved extension cornice. B B are the end pieces of the same, all of suitable design. The center piece has its backgrooved along its entire length. The end pieces are fitted into this groove, and can be moved in and out at will. In order to prevent the end pieces from falling out at the back, the groove in the center section should be narrower at the back, either, as in Fig. 3, or closed. a a are set-screws, fitted through the end pieces, and bearing against the central section, so as to clamp the parts together in a suitable position.
Having thus described this invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
The center-piece A of a cornice, having a T- shaped slot in the back thereof, combined with end-pieces B B, having flanged tongues sliding therein, as and for the purpose specified.
. AUGUST POHL.
