This invention relates to a new box for containing bottles for transportation and preservation, with the object of furnishing elastic supports for the bottles and holding them apart from one another. The invention consists in making the box with wooden or metallic sides and ends, and with wire top and bottom, the wires being so stretched that the necks of the bottles will fill smaller openings in the lower part, while the bases of the bottles will fit larger openings in the upper part of the receptacle. By this arrangement all kinds of bottles and jars can be closely packed and securely held in position without danger of breakage, the wires being sufficiently elastic to preserve the bottles from injury, even if the box is exposed to jars or rough treatment.
, A in the drawing represents a box of wood, sheet metal, or other material, open on top and bottom, though it may, if desired, be closed at r the bottom. Across this box are stretched two .horizontal layers or frames, B and G, of wire. In the upper layer B the wires cross each other at right angles, leaving openings between them large enough to admit the lower part of the bottles. In the lower layer (3 the wires cross each other so as to form small er openings to fit the necks of the bottles, as
indicated in Fig. 2. The bottles can thus be applied in inverted positions, as shown, and are supported at the neck by the lower layer of wires, and held properly separated and protected.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The bottle-holder, composed of the case A and of the layers or frames B and G, of wire,
as set forth.
