IMPROVEMENT IN STALl-HOLDERS`.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,212, dated May 28, 1872.
-bundle corn-stalks or other similar material,
so that it may be easily and expeditiously handled or carried and loaded or unloaded, of which the following is a specication, reference being had t0 the accompanying drawing, which is a top view of the implement.
A A represent two handles, which are attached to or are a part of two or more arms, B B, which are hinged together at the base of the circle, so that the opening apart 0r clos ing together of the handles will give a corresponding opening and closing motion to the arms B B. y By closing the handles together, and consequently the arms, after encircling a desired bundle of stalks, and fastening the two-handles together by means of a ratchet-bar, C, or other similar device, the bundle of stalks is rmly held, so that it may be conveniently handled to be carried or loaded and unloaded.
By the use of this implement a tedious and burdensome operation to the farmer is made easy and rapid.
I claim as my invention- Y The implement herein described for handling corn a stalks and analogous substances, consisting of the arms B, handles A, ratchetbar C, and holding-pin, arranged as shown, substantially as specified. GEORGE H. AYLWORTH.
