Description
outwardly to a vertical osition, whereupon the jaws may be lace over the opposite ends of the row o bricks so that when the linger has been disengaged from the ring 9 and the handle lifted upwardly, the jaws will be moved inwardly and clam ed against the row of bricks and held in c amped engagement therewith through the medium of the weight of the bricks supported within the carrler.
When it is desired to release the bricks from the carrier, it is simply necessary to grasp the linger ring and move the handle inwardly toward the finger ring to release the clamping jaws from the row of bricks. This may b e accomplished at any time found desirable, irres ective as to whether the bricks within t ecarrier are supported in mid air or whether the device with the bricks in it have been placed upon the ground.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that the device can be readily and quickly adjusted to either increase or decrease the carrying capacity and is one by which the bricks may be readily and quickly picked up and carried from place to place.
What I claim is 1. A brick carrier comprising an elongated adjustable frame member, a pair of clamping jaws mounted one at each end of said adjustable frame member and disposed at right angles thereto, an arm integral with and extending in at right angles to each clamping jaw member and adapted to overlie said frame member, a hinge mounted on each inwardly extending arm and adjustable longitudinally thereof, a'handle, and a link pivotally connected to each hinge member and to the opposite ends of said handle.
2. A brick carrier comprising an elongated adjustable frame member, a pair of clamping jaws mounted one at each end of said frame member and disposed at right angles thereto, an arm integral with and projecting inwardly from each clampin' 'jaw and adapted to normally overlie sai elongated frame member, a handle, links pivotally connected to the opposite ends of said handle and adjustably connected to said inwardly extending arms, a finger ring having a shank removably disposed through said elongated frame member and disposed beneath said handle whereby the finger ring may be grasped with one finger with the same hand that is used to grasp the-handle to actuate said clamping jaws, and means for clamping said linger ring and the intermediate portion of said frame member t0- gether.
3. A brick carrier comprising a pair of superimposed elongated bars, each provided longitudinally with a series of registering apertures, a clamping bolt disposed through both of said bars adjacent the inner end of each bar, a linger ring having a shank removably disposed through said bars intermedi ate said clamp-bolts and serving to hold that portion of the bars together, a jaw pivotally mounted on the outer end of each bar, a handle, and a link connecting each jaw with said handle.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of' two subscribing witnesses. j
