UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID SHIVELY, OF BAYARD, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICES-FOR CHANGING ROTARY INTO RECIPROCAL MOTION.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,196, dated May 28, 187 2; antedated May 17', 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
I, DAVID SHIVEILY, of Bayard, in the county of Oolumbiana and State of Ohio, have invented certain Improvements in Device for Changing Rotary into Reciprocal Motion, of which the following is a specification:
N atnre and Objects of the Invention.
My invention relates to the changing of rotary into reciprocal motion in such a manner that a slow rotary motion will impart a rapid reciprocal motion without the diminution of power necessary in some other devices for the same purpose.
Description of the Accompanying Drawing.
Figure 1 is a full view of the invention, showing all its working parts arranged in order for operation. Fig. 2 is a side view of the wheel A and lever 01 with its rollers c and c. Fig. 3 is a view of the lever c with its rollers e e.
General Description, A is the driving-wheel, with elevations and depressions, over which the rollers c and 6 revolve when the said driving-wheel is put in d is a lever provided with rollers c and e, to which a reciprocating motion is imparted by the revolving of the driving-wheel The operation of my invention may be described as follows: When a rotary motion is given the wheel A, the rollers 12 and e follow the elevations and depressions of the said wheel A and thus impart to the lever 01 a reciprocal motion, which is communicated to anything desired, through the connecting-shaft 9.
Claim. I claim as my invention- 1. The combination of the wheel A, as described, with the lever d and the rollers c and e.
2. The combination of the wheel A, the lev'er d, the rollers c and e, and the shaft g.
DAVID SHIVELY.
