To all wlw/n it may 0o rwm'n.'
le itknown that l, WiLLmM Lnvi SrENoEn, a citizen of the United States. residing at llonston, in the countyY ol Harris and Stato of Texas, have invented certain new and useful llnprovements in Garment-Protectors, of which the following is a Specifici tion.
This invention relates to garment, prrr tectors and is designed particularly for use with trousers and overalls to protect them lfrom wear and from becoming soiled. while in use.
The object ot the invention is to provide a protector l'or the purpose indifated which may he reutlily attached and lrtaclnecl from Ihr garment and is of such shape und form that when attached, its presence on the garment is not noticeable owing to the fact. that it is of the saine size, shape und appearance as that portion of the garment which it covers.
Another object of the invention is to proride a protector with detachable means Yfor connecting the saine at its oiltcr edges with the garment to be protected and also pro riding said garment with cooperating means ot attachment which render the. operation of securing' the attachment to the garment :t simple and casi` one.
Another obj-'ect ot the invention is to pro ride o proto-tor that is ostelli; attached tt, E graf-ment, iamnispicnous in upprarancc and that will h-nglhru tlnl life of mi garu r11 hy protwfing it from mr and dirt, seid protector when soiled or Worn being removable and may be washed or repaired with much greater ease then the garment itself,

Qther objects notl hereinbofore specifi-mill f mentioned will he set forth in full tf; the Fo?- lowing description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in Whieh:-
Figure l is :t front view of a. pair of trousers or overalls with the protector at tac-hed thereto.
Fig. 2 is a lside view of the suine, and
Figi 3 is n detail View illustrating the preferred means ot' securing the protector to the garment.
Referring to the drawing by numerals, 10 indicates :i pair of trousers or overalls which differ from similar garments now worn by hm'ing :i plurality of attaching devices1 il extending np the sido seams thereof both inner and outer scams heilig thus Supplied. These mim-hing devices l1 may he one memher of the well-known snapping connection or :is illustrated in the drawings, double eyelets through which n lacing cord 1Q is passed as slnswn in llig. E and its ends tied lo prevent withdrawal tn a orco'r.
',lho protector 13 is preferahly formed of e material similar tt thet of the garment and cnt hy the sinne ttern and meth up in practicallyV the sinne way, so that lit presents to all zil'spoarancrs a portion of such gar4 ment. The protector covers preferably only the l'ront ot the trousers or overalls and for the liest service extends from the Waist-band l-l lo n point n'iidw hctwccr. the knees and the bottoni o? the 'ri-ront. The protector :is shown consi*L v two ,martiom i5, lthe me and shape c troni hl'ifil @i CiU-ll hw; oi the, uw mouille cwioirltrtl nt, top in the o :sinner at I, crotch and having i sonneri' he irons-1 (.f'mlalls. reales 'lw .ire 'forced to secure the protector to the buttons 1=n the front of the tronsrrs, The edges ot' the two ieg portions l5 et the proce'icr oreprovided with :i unfoher of fastening devices 19 which mw he one member of the vselldtnown snap rmiwiion or as shown in tho drawing, ilonrr ejvr-h te secured close 5;; the edges o thc protector in position and spaced to cop rl'ai4 with like connections ll itt the scum ot' the trousers or overalls l0,
This` protector is applied to the frontoi` the troosrrs h r fastening the button holo-J lt to the hultons on the winst-bend of the trousers and in this position, the leg portion 1.- l of the protector will overiie the front of the trouser legs. the inner and outer edges. of raclr portion 1 being in line with thv` inner and outer seams in said leg and the double eyelets 19 on the protect/or will be l'rsemhliinlf that of A t the top. bulimopposite similar double eyelets 11 at the le seams. A lacing cord 12 is now threads through the eyelets 11 and 19 at each seam to connect the edge of the protector to such seam, the lacingcord being threaded longitudinall back and forth through the eyelets and eac end secured by forming a knot 20 therein.
The protector as stated being made of the same material as-the garment to which it is appliedi may be worn freely and indiscriminately where such arments are worn as it is incons icuous an made like the front of a pair o trousers or overalls and being secured at the seams of the garment by unnoticeable fastenings, the wearer does not present the apparancc of wearing protectlng means for the clothing.
Additional Wearing qua ities may be given the rotector 13 by reinforcing strips 21 sewe to the front thereof at such parts as will be subeeted to the greatest amount of wear or w ere they are most liable to be soiled. These reinforcing strips when worn through or torn can be ripped olf and the rotector used without them or new reinorcing strips applied in their place. By
this means, protectors are kept clean and free from wear for a great length of time and the garments with which they are used given increased life.
