Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS M. PALMERO, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seguin, in the county of Guadalupe and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tire-Heaters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved tire heater, the object oil. the invention being to provide an improved device of this character embodying a plurality of gasolene or other liquid hydrocarbon burners arranged to encircle a tire and to direct jets of flame against the same so as to quickly heat the tire to a high degree, and also embodying means to adjust the burners according to the size of the tire and thereby adapt the heater for heating tires of different sizes.
The invention consists 1n the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a plan of the tire heater constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention and showing the burner covers turned outwardly and disclosing the burners.

Fig. 5 is detailed sectional view of one of the burners and its connection.
In the embodiment of my invention I provide a pair of nearly semi-circular pipes l which in practice are preferably about half an inch in diameter and each of which is provided with supporting legs 2. The said pipes are arranged to form nearly a complete circle and with their ends opposed to each other, one end of each pipe being provided with a T 3 the vertical arm of which forms an air intake and mixture chamber 4L and being preferably provided with an air regulating valve 5 as here shown. The Tg 3 are connected by nipples 6 to a T 7 the vertical arm of which has a burner tube 8 attached thereto and depending therefrom, said burner tube being provided in opposite sides with jet orifices 9 and being here shown as provided at its lower end with a priming cup 10. A gasolene supply pipe 11 leads from a reservoir tank 12 and is provided with a globe or other regulating valve 13 and i connected to a T 14 the vertical arm of which is connected by a pipe 15 to the air intake of one of the Ts 3, said pipe 15 having a needle valve or other suitable form of valve 16 and being provided with a jet nozzle 17 which discharges through the mixing chamber 4. A nipple 18 connects one horizontal arm of the T 14L to an elbow 19 which is connected by a pipe 20 to the air intake or mixture of the other T 3, said pipe 20 having a valve l6 and a nozzle 17 which are identical in construction with the valve 16 and nozzle 17 respectively. It will be observed that the burner tube 8 is arranged between the pipes 15 and 20, said pipes constituting the generating pipes for converting the gasolene into vapor and the said pipe 8 being a burner pipe to direct jets of flame against the generator pipes and keep the latter heated to the requisite degree during the operation of the device. The gasolene tank is here shown as provided with a filler cap 21, an air pressure gage 22 and an air compressing pump 23.
The burners 2% are arcuate in form and comprise curved pipes having jet perforations 25 and end caps 26. At the center of each burner 24 is a T 27. The pipes 1 are also provided with Ts 28 and at their ends with elbows 29. The Ts 27 of the burners are connected to the Ts 28 of the pipes 1 by elbows 29, pipes 30 which have elbows 31 at their ends and nipples 32, 33 which are respectively swivelly connected to the Ts 28 and 27, the nipples 33 of two of the burners being swivelly connected to the elbows 29 at the ends of said pipes 1. The pipes support the burners 24 and said pipes by the provision of the swivelly mounted nipples are adapted to turn angularly with respect to the pipe 1 and the burners so that the burners may be adj ustcd radially according to the size of the tire to be heated. The Ts 27 have horizontally arranged inwardly extending arms 34 to support and hold the tire. A. curved cover is provided for each burner and is connected to the T 27 thereof by means of a hinge link 36. Hence the covers may be arranged over the burners and over the tire to confine the heat around the tire or may be turned outwardly from the burners to permit the ready removal of the tire, as will be understood. A standard 37 has its lower end attached to a series of radially arranged bars 38, the outer ends of which are attached to the pipes l. Links 38 have their upper ends pivotally connected to the upper portion of the standard, as at 39 and their lower ends pivotally connected as at 40 to the inner ends of link 41, the outer ends of which are pivotally connected to the tire supporting arms of the burners. Said linke 38 41 are arranged radially and form toggles. A runner 42 is movable vertically on the standard and is connected by link rods 43 to the joints of the toggle links 38 l1, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. A lever 44 to operate the runner, and hence cause the link and link rods to move the burners radially toward or from the center of the heater is p-ivotally connected to one of the supporting legs as at 45. It will be understood that said lever, said links and their connections enable the burners to be adjusted as may be required by the size of the tire so that tires of any size may be heated.
While I have herein shown and described a preferred form of my invention, I would have it understood that changes may be made in the form proportion and construction of the several parts, without departing from the spirit of my invention and within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a tire heater of the class described, a pipe, means to supply a combustible mixture thereto, a series of burner pipes arranged for radial movement and having tire supporters and also each having a nipple, said first named pipe also having a series of nipples corresponding in number to the burner 1 pipes, connecting pipes having elbows at their ends swivelly connected to the nipples of the first named pipes and the burner pipes a standard, an element vertically movable on the standard, and connections between said elements and the burner pipes to simultaneously radially adjust the latter.
