To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ISRAEL citizen of the United States, residing at Riverside, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Papering-Boards; and Ido hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in papering boards adapted for use by paper hangers as work tables.

The principal object of the invention is to provide a papering board which may be knocked down and folded into a compact bundle for transportation purposes.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device which will eliminate the necessity of the user carrying a board of any great length or width.

Heretofore much difficulty and inconvenience has been encountered by paper hangers in the use of the ordinary type of papering board due to the fact that they have found it necessary to transport a board measuring in the neighborhood of three feet in width and six or eight feet in length from place to place and to their various places of occupation. The object of this invention is to avoid the necessity such a board and yet providing a device which may be readily collapsed and will be strong and substantial when in use.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawin in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the board taken from a point below the upper side thereof to show the construction of the supporting frame and legs. v

1 and 3, thereby avoiding interference with the proper folding of the device. The under sides of the side rails at each end and at their centers are provided with apertures 12 for the reception of the pins carried by the legs to form a connection between said legs and the frame.

Passing now to the description of the legs, each set of legs consist of a pair of bars each designated by the

numerals

These bars are placed with their fiat sides adjacent and are pivotally connected at their centers as at 15 while the upper and lower ends thereof are beveled as at 16, so that when the device is in assembled position and the legs are spread in the manner illustrated in the drawings the faces 16 at the lower side of the legs will form seats while the beveled ends at the upper sides will form rests on which the under sides of the side and end bars of the top or table are positioned. Centrally of the beveled portions 16 at the upper ends of the legs are suitable upwardly extending dowel pins which are adapted to engage in the apertures at the centers and ends of the side bars to form a connection between the top and the legs. It will thus be seen that when the legs are in place the table or top will be supported a distance above the floor equal to the usual height of an ordinary paper hangers board.

In order to brace the device against endwise movement a suitable brace structure is provided consisting of the central strip 18, the opposite ends of which are beveled off as shown and provided with apertures 19 for the reception of the pivot pins 20. These pivot pins form connections for the brace bars 21, the adjacent ends of which are provided with the reduced extensions 22 forming shoulders 23 which are adapted to abut the side edges of the center strips 10 when the device is in the assembled position. The outer or free ends of the strips of the brace bars are provided with the cut away portion 24 forming substantially triangular extensions, the faces of which are adapted to conform to the inclination of the legs so as to fit snugly against said legs. The shoulders 25 formed by the cut-away portions of the free ends of the brace bars are adapted to engage the inner faces of the legs so as to transmit any motion imparted to said legs directly against the central strip 10 thereby avoiding endwise wabbling of the table. In order to support the pivoted ends of the brace bars in proper po- Copies of this patent may be obtained for sition with relation to the central strip 10, there is provided the clip 26 which is secured to the under side of said strip and is provided with the tongue 27 which engages the under sides of the extensions on the adjacent ends of the brace bars and thus hold said brace bars in operative position.

From the foregoing it will be apparent that a particularly simple construction of table is provided which is particularly adapted for use as a papering board and which may be readily knocked down for transportation. It is to be understood that if so desired a suitable brace bar 28 may be connected between either of the end legs and the center legs at the desire of the user, thereby holding the center leg against wabbling.

While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, is is to be understood that such changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is 1. A paper hanging board comprising a knocked down frame, including side bars,

the under sides of the side bars being provided with apertures, legs consisting of a pair of bars pivoted centrally together, dowel pins at the upper ends of the legs adapted to extend into the apertures in the under sides of the side bars of the frame, a flexible cover for said frame, and secured to the side bars, a clip on the central brace of the frame and brace bars removably connected to the clip and engaging the end legs of the table to hold the whole against wabbling.

2. In a paper hanging board comprising a knocked down frame, including a pair of side bars, cross bars removably connected between the side bars and a flexible cover connecting the side bars and forming a top for the device, legs detachably secured to the frame, and metallic angle bars positioned on top of said flexible cover at the longitudinal edges thereof and engaging the cover and the upper side edges of the side bars and extending the whole length of the side bars, as and for the purpose specified.
