IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING ROCKING-CHAIRS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,969, dated May 21, 1872.
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL KLINK, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of MH- nois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Folding Rocking-Chair; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon and being a part of this specification, in whi.ch-
Figure l is a perspective View of my improved rockin g-ehair. Fig. 2 is a similar view, showing it folded compactly; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view, showing the devices for lockin g the seat-frame to the rockers.
Like letters refer to like parts in each figure. The nature of this invention relates to the construction of a rocking-chair in such a manner that it can readily be folded up to occupy but a very small space; and it consists in the peculiar and novel construction of the several parts, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawing, A represents a pair of rockers connected by a girt, A, near the rearends. To the ends of this girt, next the rockers, is
the front end, a standard, D, whose lower end rests, when the chair is erect, upon a lateral swell or enlargement of the front part of the rocker below. E E are segments, which, by means of the girts d d 0?, form the seat-frame.
The front ends of the segments, where they Q in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2, detach the lower ends of the segments from the hooks a, and move them forward, and fold the parts together at once.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A folding rocking-chair wherein the rockers A A, back-frames B B, arms 0 (3, standards D D, segments E E, and cords F F, hooks to a, hinges 00 e c, and knees t' t' t c" are arranged to operate with relation to each other as and for the purpose set forth.
