IMPROVEMENT IN BOQT-JACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,876, dated May :21, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improve-- ments in Boot-Jacks, invented by. HENRY GRocKER, of Brighton, Middlesex county, State of Massachusetts.
The object of my invention is to construct and manufacture adjustable boot-jacks, which shall occupy a very small space, and thus especially be of great convenience to the traveling public. I
Figure I is a plan view of a boot-jack embodying my invention. Fig. II is a stirrup or guard made of malleable cast-iron, brass, or other metals. Into the eye a of the stirrup A is pivoted, by aid of the pin b, the brace B. In this brace is made a slot, 0, into which is introduced the set-screw d, which is screwed into and carries the lip (J. Notches e e are cut into the lip 0, into which falls the projection f on the end of the brace B. A spring, D, fastened to the eye a of the stirrup A, serves to press down the brace B and the lip 0 into a position parallel or nearly so to the sides of the stirrup.
