No. 126,672. l Patented lvm/14,1872.
N UNITE S'IArns EDMUND L. BULLOCK AND WILLIAM TULLER, OF HARTFORD, AND SHEL- DON KINNEY, JR., OF WINDSOR, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN WASHING-MACHINES.
Specification forming part of-Letters Patent No. 126,672, dated May 14, 1672.
SPECIFICATION.
We, EDMUND L. BULLOCK and WiLLIAM TULLER, ot' Hartford, and SHELDON KINNEY, J r., of Windsor, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washing- Machines, of which the following is a specilication, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which is a central vertical trans- `verse section of a washing-machinewith our improvements attached. v
This invention consists of an improvement upon the washing-machine shown and described in Letters Patent No. 107,443, dated September 20,1870, and issued to EDMUND L. BULLocK, one of the present inventors 5 and this invention differs from -that only in that we have simpliied the mechanism by the cradle or rocking frame, which is made to vibrate.
The letter a indicates the semi-cylindrical tub, which contains the cradle, composed of the wooden ends or sides b, connected by the rounds c. This cradle is pivoted at b1 to the tub a. The letter d indicates one of a series of poundersfwhieh rise and fall, as described in said former Letters Patent. The cradle bis `made to vibrate bymeans of a connecting-rod,
e, attached at one end to the post b2, and at the other end to a crank-arm, fi, upon the drivin g-shaft.
By comparing this arrangement for vibrating the cradle withthat shown in said former Letters Pate-nt it will be seen that the parts have been simplified. And this is our invention.
VYVe claim as our invention- The combination of the cradle b, post' b2, connecting` rod e, and crank-arm t', upon the drivingshaft.
