Specification of Letters'Patent.

To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, FLOYD LANE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Falconer, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Milk-Bottle Cap, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to closures for receptacles, and particularly to closures for ordinary glass milk bottles.
The invention has for its object to provide a novel means for closing the open end of a bottle and to facilitate its easy removal therefrom.
rlhe invention also has for its object to provide a bottle closure that may be used any number of times and may easily be cleaned.
`With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein cisclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring more specifically to the drawings, A represents a bottom disk and B a top disk made of any suitable material, preferably metal. The bottom disk is formed of two segments 1 and 2, and the top disk is formed of two segments 3 and 11. C represents a receptacle.
The segment 1 is fiat, and has its straight edge ybent downwardly to form a flange 6 provided with openings 7 to form a section of a hinge. IThe segment 2 is also flat, and has its straight edge provided with downwardly curved members 9, each of which is bent to define a substantially rectangular eye, as shown. These members 9 hook into the openings 7 and form a hinge for the lower disk A.
The segment 3 of the disk B has its arcuate edge 11 bent upwardly and outwardly, and its other edge cut to form a recess 12.

To apply the closure, the member 15 is held and the closure will iiex to the position shown in Fig. 1, the relative movement of the parts being` limited by the flange 6 engaging the bottom of segment 2. rThe partly folded closure is inserted into the mouth of the bottle and then flattened so as to cause the packing 16 to be forced against the wall of the mouth and thereby seal the receptacle. The end 14 of the tongue will stick up above the surface of the segments 3 and i so it can be easily pulled upwardly to collapse the closure and permit its withdrawal.
When the top is in place, it is yieldingly held not only by the packing ring, but also by the flange 6 within the eye formed by the piece 9, which as will be noted in Fig. 3, is yieldingly bound by the walls of the eye.
Vhat is claimed is:
1. A milk bottle cap, including a disk comprising hingedly connected segmental sections, a segmental plate secured on one of the segmental sections and having its arcuate edge bent upwardly and defining, with the arcuate edge of the segmental section, a groove, and a tongue extending from the other edge of the segmental plate, a segmental plate secured to the other segmental section and having its arcuate edge bent upwardly and defining, with the arcuate edge of the segmental section, a groove, the said plate having a recess for the reception of the tongue, and a packing ring seated in the groove.
2. A milk bottle cap, including a disk 'ring seated in theagroove comprising hingedly connected segmental sections of unequal areas, a dished disk comprising sections secured/@to 'theffsegmental sections, the upwardly extending periphery of the dished disk dening With theperi-phery of the iirst disk a groove, and a packing In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature Ain thepreseneeofftwo Witnesses.
