Be it known that I, BENNETT G. SILVER, a
citizen of theU-n -ited States cit-America, re-. siding at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Swing-Seats, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in a childs swing-seat, and the objects of my invention are, first, to provide a construction of the class which will readily permit placing the child in and taking it from the seat and prevents the childs fall or escape in the absence of an attendant; second, to afford a seat which may quickly be removed from the frame giving it shape to be laundried; and, third, the provision of means having one free end and suitable to be attached to and detached from the body of the seat to restrain the childs body from slipping out of the seat. 1
With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in the novel features and in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and particularly pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective of the invention with the restraining flap unhooked,
Fig. 2 is a similar view with flap hooked,
Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3 on Fig. 2,
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a modified form in the construction of the seat.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts 9 throughout the several views.
The seat or basket A is made up preferably of a suitable textile fabric composed of] and carries hooks 13 at one end for engagement with eyes 14 On the strip 7 Straps 15 of any desired length afford suitable means whereby to hang the seat sufliciently above the floor or the ground I Specification of Letters Patent. implication filed January 23 19117.. No. 143,890. i

from-the ceiling'or'from a tree in a Well known manner. y
The relatively narrow flap ll securui at the'aopened end of the seat leaves a comparatively large opening 16 to facilitate seating in and removing the child from the basketlike seat A.
The strip 7 is sewed or otherwise secured at its ends to the side portions 5.
In Fig. 4 is disclosed a. slightly modified form having parallel rows of holes with eye- lets 17, 18, therein and when the upper edges of the fabric seat are folded over the rigid frame 9, the rows of eye-lets register to enable the threading of atape 19 therethrough and tying the same as at 20 to provide, simple means for detaching the seat from its rigid frame when the seat is to be laundried.
The flap 11 when fastened at its free end to the basket spans the opening 16 in the Owing to the simple character of the invention, on reference to the drawings taken together with the above description, the construction and its mode of Operation, it is thought will be readily understood.
It will be understood that changes, variations, and modifications in the details of the invention within the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof, hence I do not limit my invention to the exact construction and arrangement of parts shown and described.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is: p
1. In a childs swing-seat, the combination with a rigid frame and suspending means therefor, of a textile seat the upper edges of which are provided with parallel rows of eyelets and folded over the rigid frame and means threaded through the eyelets for attaching and detaching the seat from the rigid frame.
2. In a childs swing-seat, the combination with a rigid frame and suspending means therefor, of a textile seat the upper edges of which are folded over the rigid frame and having an opened end with a restrain ing flap secured at said open end and means for fastening the free end of the flap to the body of the textile seat.
' 3. In a childs swing-seat, the combination With a rigid frame and suspending means therefor, of a textile seat the upper edges of Which are provided With parallel Copies of this patent may be obtained for rows of eyelets and folded over the rigid frame and having an open end with a restraining flap secured to the said seat at one end and'mea'ns for fastening the free 15 end of the flap to the body of the textile seat.
} In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of a Witness.
