Qvii'neoo iii a J'QSEPH w. IBZEBRYMAN, or GARDENA, CALIFORNIA, assrenon or ONE-HALF T sinuous; or eannnnn; oanr'roianra,
ToaZZ whom/ it may concern;
Be it knownthat T, JOSEPH, W, BERRY- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grardena, in the county of Los Angeles and. State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saw- Handles; and I do' hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescrip-h tion of the invention, such" as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a saw handle, and the primary object of the invention is to provide asaw handle which is provided with a recess interiorly thereof in which is positioned a bulb and a tube leading outwardly out of the lower edge of the handle, so that air passing out. of the tube will enter the kerf formed by the saw blade for thepurpose of blowing the saw dust therefrom.
A further object of this invention is to provide a pivotally mounted member which engages a portion of the bulb for compressing the bulb for forcing air outwardly through the tube into the saw kerf;
With the foregoing and'other objects in view this invention consists in such novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustratedin the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters designate like and corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the im-- ings, 1 designates the saw handle as an en-1 tirety, which is of the standard size and is made in halves, of pressed or cast material,
SAW-HANDLE.
such as metal, wood or fiber, which halves or sectlons are connected to each other and to a saw blade 2 by the usual type of set screws is positioned within the chamber 5 and it has a tube 8 connected thereto] which extends through the channel 6 and is provided for guiding air from the bulb .7 through the channel and out through the opening 6, into the kerf formed by the saw blades 2, during the operation of the saw. A bulb compressing member 9 is pivotallyconnected as shown at 10 to the grip 4 of the saw handle and it is concavo-convex, having a concaved recess 11 for receiving a portion of the bulb 7 so that when the member 9 is moved inwardly by the fingers of the operator of the saw it will press the'bulb 7, for forcing air out of the bulb through the tube 8. The lower end 12 of the member 9 has its. side edges curved, as clearly shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing, and this curved end extends into the chamber 5 as shown at 14 in Fig. 1 of the drawing. The point 12 extending into the chamber, prevents the outward pivotal movement of the member 9.
In reducing the invention to practice, certain minor features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may necessitate alterations to which the patentee is entitled provided such alterations are comprehended Within the scope of what is claimed. What is claimed is:- t
A saw handle comprising a body portion having a channel opening outwardly at a point adjacent its attachment to a saw blade, a hand grip on saidbody and having a recess communicating with the channel, a bulb Patentedrhpr. so, iota, J; Application filed May 13, 1916.
