IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,216, dated April 30, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST U. KrNsEY, of Passaic, in the county of Passaio and in the State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Locks; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
My invention consists in the construction of a sash-lock composed of a box, a bolt, and a bent lever passing through a recess in the bolt and actuating it, and a weighted knob,
' all as more fully hereinafter described.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertaius to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a view of the inner side of my sash-lock, and Fig. 2 is an interior view of the same.
A represents a box of any suitable dimensions, within which moves horizontally the bolt B. This bolt is grooved on one side, and
a lever, (J, passes through said groove, its upper end being pivoted or hung on a pin, a, and its lower end projecting through a slot in the lower part of the box. The lower end of the lever O is bent in the opposite direction from that at which the bolt is to operate, and upon its extreme endis a weighted knob, D. The weight of the knob forces out the bolt, and by this means I get rid of the spring now used, which is continually getting out of order.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The within-described sash-lock, consisting of the box A, bolt 13, bent'lever O passing through a recess in the bolt and actuating it, and the weighted knob D, all constructed and arranged substantially as set forth.
