Definitions
- a fixed jaw having a tubular shank, a movable jaw having a shank slidable in the shank of said fixed jaw, said shank of the movable jaw being axially bored and threaded from its outer end, an adjusting screw threaded into the bore of the shank of the movable jaw, said adjusting screw being mounted in the outer end of the shank of the fixed jaw for free rotation and secured against axial said shank, the shank of said fixed jaw being of polygonal cross section, and an approximately rectangular ;or L-shaped operating lever having its vertical arm pivotally secured at the lower end thereof to the outer end of said screw andits horizontal arm so disposed relative to the vertical arm as to engage one face oft-he shank of saidfixed jaw when thelever is in operative'position so as to lock said screw against rotation.

Description
to facilitate rotation of the screw.
it -fitsjsnu'gly' against, the upper face of shank 3 and occupies but very little space,
thhshvoiding all interference with the use of the wrench in the usual manner.
While I have shown the justing screw can be employed, the main obect being to provide a locklng devlce of simple and eflicient construction which "will not interfere with the use of the wrench in the ordinary manner and will permit the adjusting screw to be quickly and easily rotated when desired, this means also serving It will be evident that there may be slight changes made in the construction and arrangement of the different parts of my invention without departing from the field and scope of the same, and I intend to include all such variations, as fall within the scope of the appended claim in this application in which a preferred form only of my invention is disclosed.
adjusting lever 11 I so shaped and proportioned as to fit snugly againstthe upper face of shank 3,
What I claim is:
In a wrench, a fixed jaw having a tubular shank, a movable jaw having a shank slidable in the shank of said fixed jaw, said shank of the movable jaw being axially bored and threaded from its outer end, an adjusting screw threaded into the bore of the shank of the movable jaw, said adjusting screw being mounted in the outer end of the shank of the fixed jaw for free rotation and secured against axial said shank, the shank of said fixed jaw being of polygonal cross section, and an approximately rectangular ;or L-shaped operating lever having its vertical arm pivotally secured at the lower end thereof to the outer end of said screw andits horizontal arm so disposed relative to the vertical arm as to engage one face oft-he shank of saidfixed jaw when thelever is in operative'position so as to lock said screw against rotation.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
