Be it known that I, AUGUST E. Moni., a citizen of the United States, residing ai; Glathe, in the county of Johnson and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Road-Drags, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved road drag for use in scraping, leveling and smoothing the surface of a road and also for use as a snow plow and embodying a beam having reversely extended ends arranged at an angle to the intermediate portion to prevent the beam from being casually overturned and also embodying draw-heads which are detachably connected to the ends of the beam and a draft bar or evener which is de- Ytachably connected to either of the drawheads, so that the drag may be used with either side of its beam foremost and so that the drag may also be used with either its smoothing or road working surface lowermost.'
One object of the invention is to eiiect improvements in the construction of the beam.
Another object of the invention is to edect improvements in the construction of the draw-heads so that the latter may be readily detachably secured on the ends of the beam.
Another object is to effect improvements in the constructionv of the draw-heads and the draw-bar or evener so that the drawbar may be readily detachably secured to either of the draw-heads and without the necessity of employing bolts or other like fastening devices.
Another object is to effect improvements in the. construction of the clevises used on.
the draw-bar and the double trees.
With the above and other objects 1n view Vthe invention consists in the construction,
combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed. In the accompanying drawings Figure l is a perspective view of a road drag constructed and arranged inv accordance with my invention.

In the embodiment of my invention I provide a drag beam 1 which may be made of iron, steel, of malleable metal or of wood shod with iron or of any other suitable metal. The beam comprises an intermediate portion 2 which when the drag is in use is arranged obliquely to the line of draft and also comprises end portions 3 which extend in opposite directions, one forwardly and the other rearwardly from the intermediate portion and which are at an angle to said intermediate portion and nearly parallel with each other. Said angularly related end portions prevent the beam from being casually overturned. The end portions of the beam may be bent or formed at an angle to the intermediate portion as at 4 or may be curved with reference to the intermediate portion of the beam as at 5 in Fig. 6 of the drawings.
The beam is reversible end for end so that either side may be arranged foremost and is channeled in its front and rear sides from end to end as at 7. The opposing sides of each channel converge toward the center of the beam to form beveled faces 8 and edges 9, l0. The beam is flat on one side from end to end as at 11 and its opposite side has its intermediate portion ridged as at l2 and beveled on opposite sides from the edges l0 to the ridge l2 as at 13. When the drag is used with the ridged side of the beam lowermost the beam will carry the dirt back to the center and cause the dirt and clods coming from the front portion of the drag to feed in under the drag and be thereby pulverized and pressed smooth. The channeled working faces on both the front and rear sides of the beam enable the latter to be reversed end for end as Well as turned with either side 11, 12 uppermost so as to definitely prolong the life of the beaiii and enable the ysaine to be used for a long period of time.l
