These uprights are provided with bars or tubes such as 9-10. the bar 9 being adapted to slide within the tube l0 so that the same may be introduced into the window and spread out into the guideways 6 thereof. The bar 9 is also preferably provided with a cut away portion or recess into which a ring such as 1l may be seated, said ring being adjacent the end of the tube 10 as shown and of sutcient diameter to receive the shackle oi the padlock 12 to retain said ring within said cutaway portion. From which it will be seen that after the guard has been placed in position it may be securely looked to prevent being shifted. When it is desired to take the guard out of the window, the lock is merely removed from the ring 11 which allows the ring to slide lelftwardly over the bar 9 and allows the bar 9 to be telescoped into the tube 10 so that the guard may be readily withdrawn.
