Description

IVI. SEGEL.
LIGHTING APPARATUS FOR MOTION PICTURE MACHINES.
APPLICATION man 1uLY11.1913.4
Patented. Feb. 5, 1918.
MICHAEL SEGEL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
LIGHTING APPYARATUS FOB MOTION-PICTURE MACHINES.
Specication of Letters Patent.'
patented nen. a, iai...
Application iled .Tilly 17, 1913. Serial No. 779,419.
T all whom it may concern B e it known that I, MICHAEL SEGEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York county, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lighting Apparatus for Motion-Picture Machines, of which the followf ing is a clear, Jfull, and exact description.
This invention relates to an improvement in lighting apparatus for motion picture machines particularly. My invention appertains more particularly to arc lights used to cast motion pictures upon a screen Vand has for an object an improved condenser.
@ne of the chief objects of my invention is to provide a plurality of condenscrs which can be moved in position between the arc light and motion picture device.
Figure 1 is a sectional side elevation of an entire lighting system embodying my improvement in condensers.
Fig. 2 is a front View showing the condensers in position with the one reserve condenser carried in readiness to be slid into position as soon as the one in use has become injured.
In the drawings the numeral l indicates the usual shutter which is located between the condensers 2 and 3, which are as usual made of glass.
As c an be seen in Fig. 1 the condensers are carried in a frame 4 and 5, that is to say, each pair of condensers is carried in an independent frame which frames are slidable in a support 6.
The object of providing a plurality of sets of condensers is to enable the operator to immediately slide in a new set of condcnsers should those in use break.
I claim as my invention: tu
1. In a projecting apparatus having a plurality of sets of condensers'mounted in a. casing movable in a guideway whereby when one condenser is moved into the line oi light, the other condenser is moved out ofthe line tu of light.
2. In a projecting apparatus, a casing having a guideway and a frame carrying a plurality of sets of condensers mounted on said casing and adapted for movement in said guidewa'y to position, successive sets of condensers in front of the light course.
3. In a projecting apparatus having a source of light, a guideway, a plurality of sets of condensers mounted in said guideway near said light source, and adapted to be moved in and out of focal axis of the light source, whereby the sets of condensers in front of the arc can be removed by moving the successive sets in front of the light t0 source'. v
Signed at New York city, New York, this 12th day of July 1913.
