Be it known that l, HERMAN Sentier, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mib waulrie, in the county of Clackamas and State of Oregon, have invented newr and useful Improvements in Flag Games, of which the following is a specilication.

This invention relates to games and the object in view is to provide a game embodying in connection with a stationary support, board or field,.a plurality of movable members or blocks of special formation adapted to be moved or shifted from place to place and arranged in vertical and horizontal rows, there being a sufficient number of such movable members to entirely cover the field excepting only a space equal to that ordinarily occupied by a single block, and the game as a whole being of a highly educational character as well as entertaining both to adults and children.

lNith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, herein fully described, illustrated and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings Figure l is a plan view of the game apparatus omitting the movable members of blocks.

Fig. 2 is also a plan view, showing the movable members or blocks'in their final positions.

Fig.v 3 is a vertical sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

The game apparatus contemplated in this invention, comprises a board or support having a lield 1 and a surrounding flange or frame 2.' One side 3 of the frame is of considerably greater Width than the remaining three sides, the frame as a whole being rectangular in shape, the wider or broader side 3 having printed or otherwise represented thereon the names of the foreign countries now engaged in the worlds war, said names being abbreviated as shown at 4.

The field 1 is blocked od by intersecting lines 5- and 6 extending at right angles to each other to provide a plurality of spaces arranged in vertical and horizontal rows and each of said spaces has printed or otherwise represented thereon the name of one of the belligerent countries. All of the spaces in each horizontal row have the name of the same country represented thereon as shown in the drawings and such name is preferably printed in full Ain order that the persons playing` the game may become familiar with the proper spelling of the foreign countries. At the saine time persons become familiar with-the abbreviations in the spelling of the names of said countries.

In conjunction with the support or board hereinabove described, l employ a number of movable members or blocks 7, there being as many blocks as there are spaces between the intersecting lines 5 and 6, less one, one vacant space being left in order 'to permit the movable members or blocks to be shifted about until they are arranged in the same manner as the printed names of the countries on the individual spaces on the lield. Each of the blocks or movable members is rectangular in plan, being of greater dimensions in one direction than in the other. The top of each block is rounded or arched as shown for the purpose of enabling the blocks to be quickly manipulated as it will be seen that the fingers may be readily placed upon opposite sides of any block to be shifted without interfering with other blocks adjacent thereto. Furthermore such rounded formation of the top of each block enables a good grip to be obtained on the block preparatory to shifting the same from one place to another.

Each block carries on its rounded face the flag or colors of the country which it repre sents. Such rounded surface of the block also has imprinted or otherwise represented thereon the name of the respective country followed by the area in square miles of said country and the total population of said country. This makes the game as a whole very instructive as well as entertaining as persons playing the game become perfectly familiar with the flags and colors of all the countries involved in the worlds war together with the number of citizens or subjects. of such countries and the area in square miles, as well as proper spellin of said countries and the proper abbreviations for the spelling of the names of said counln playing the game the movable members or blocks are placed indiscriminately upon the field and the player or players then move the blocks one at a time with the object of disposing the blocks of each country in the row designated on the field or in other words until all of the spaces designated by the names of any particular coun- 'try are occupied by the blocks or movable members appropriated to said country;

In the drawings there are 9 rows of Spaces, 3 spaces in each row but such number is merely illustrative of the invention, it being apparent that the number of rows will correspond With the number of countries at War and the number of. spaces in each row may be varied to suit the manufacturer. v
