IMPROVEMENT IN NAIL-PLATE NIPPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,195, dated April 2, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. JOHNSON, of the city of Wheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have made the invention hereinafter described, of which the followingis a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to an improvement in nail-plate nippers as a new article of manufacture; and consists in two elastic jaws, the one connected with the other, and is held in place by the insertion of one end of each in a common socket, the mouth part of each being beveled to an edge, and also provided with an aperture between them, in which to insert a lever to open them to receive the nail-plate.
In the drawing, Figure l is a side view of the complete nipper. Fig. 2 is a half section of the same.
Fig. 3 is an inside View of one of the jaws. Fig. 4 is a view of the lever used for opening the jaws to receive the plate.
Like letters indicate like parts.
A and B are the jaws driven into socket G, by which last they are firmly held; D aperture between jaws A and B, in which the tang of the lever is inserted to open the jaws, the latter being closed when driven into the socket (3. That part of the jaws driven into the socket is beveled in order that they may be firmly held therein. When in use the nipper is attached to a handle by means of a socket provided therein for that purpose.
What 1 claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The nail-plate nipper, composed of the several parts, constructed and united as described.
