To all'whom it may concern: Be it known that I, HARRY J. WALKER, of Chicago, in the county. t QookandIStatefof Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing-Apparatus, ofwhich the followingis a specification.v
My present invention relates in general to,
dispensing apparatus, and more particularly to apparatus for. dispensing fluids, and has special reference to the provision. of an improved form of pump device which is particularly useful in dispensing beverages and especially beverages containing a portionof flavoringsyrup.
The principal objects of my presentinventlon are the prov sion'ofan improved form of dispensing pump devlce; improved mechanism for. operating the dispensing pump;- improved mountings for the pump. and its ejector nozzle, and for the pump opera ating device, respectively, andimproved relative arrangement of such several parts and the syrup container, whereby a much ,more compact form of so called soda foun-.
tain than is. now available may be built, and wherebynot only may much wastespace be utilized, but also the capacity of any given fountain largely increased, together with such other objects as may hereinafter appear.

Referring now more particularly to Figs. 2 and 3 it will be observed that for the purpose of actuating the pump mechanism I preferably employ a double lever device pivoted at 41 to the wall 12, one arm 42 being provided with an extension 43 acting upon a shoe 44 formed upon the housing 34 and the other arm 45 having pivotal engagement, as indicated at 46, with a push rod 47, preferably supported by the angle bar 50. Thus when such push rod 47 is moved from its position indicated in the full lines, (Fig. 1), to its position, indicated by the dotted lines, the piston 25 will be depressed to the bottom of the cylinder 24 and the contents driven through the dis charge pipe 28 into a glass or other receptacle, such as is indicated at 48.
In order that the extent of movement of the piston 25 into-the cylinder 24 may be varied as circumstances require, I preferably provide the housing 34 with a sleeve 49 having threaded engagement therewith and, movable vertically relatively thereto.
From the foregoingspecification it will be evident that upon removal of the cover plate 51, (Fig. 3), any one of the receptacles 17 may be tipped forward against the partition member 19, accompanied by the pump and ejector members and the face and cover plates pertaining to such receptacle. These as a unitary structure, may be lifted out of the receptacle, which may be refilled, or a new receptacle substituted and replaced, all without demounting or unnecessary disturbance of the actuating mechanism.
It will be further observed, firstly, that by virtue of the construction and arrangement described the implacement of theseveral containers, with their respective pump actuating mechanisms, below the counter top 11 and substantially Within the margin thereof, is readily eflected, and that thereby much space heretofore wasted is saved,more space available for working room is gained; and secondly, that improved facilities for cooling the contents of the receptacles are attained and a construction which is readily kept in a clean and sanitary condition is provided, and finally that a shelf upon which glasses may be placed for the reception of the ejected syrup is arranged, without sac rifice of space or incurring of additional expense therefor.
Other advantages of the construction will be obvious to those who are skilled in the art to which my invention pertains.
Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A dispensing apparatus comprising in combination a fluid container, a support therefor, a stationary pump cylinder and manually operated means for imparting movement to the piston of the pump sup ported by said support and carried inde pendently of the pump whereby the pump may be removed. without removal of said actuating means.
2. A dispensing apparatus comprising in combination a fluid container, a stationary pump cylinder, and independent means for actuating the piston of. the pump adapted for contact with but disconnected from the pump whereby the pump maybe removed without removal of said, actuating means.
8. A dispensing apparatus comprising in combination a fluid container, a stationary pump cylinder, a support and means adapted to contact with but disconnected from and independent of the pump for actuating the piston of the pump carried by said support, whereby the pump may be removed without removal of said actuating means.
4. A dispensing apparatus comprising in combination with a counter-top having a support'therefor, a fluid container, a pump and thrust operated means for actuating the pump, said fluid container and pump and a support for the pump actuating means being mounted within the margin of said counter-top, the pump being provided with discharge means located below said countertop.
5. A dispensing'apparatus in combination with a counter-top having a support there for, a fluid container and apump, thrust actuated means carried independent of the.
pump for imparting movement to the. pump and mounted within the outer margin of said counter-top, whereby the pump may be removed without removal of said actuating means.
6. A dispensing apparatus comprising in combination with a counter-top having a support therefor, a fluid container and a pump, thrust operated means for imparting movement to the pump supported within the margin of the counter-top and independently of the pump whereby the pump may be removed without removal of said actuating means.
7. In a dispensing apparatus in combinabination with end a piston and at the other end an extension passing through said cover and provided with a housing, resilient means for lifting said rod interposed between said housing and cover, a discharge pipe leading through said cover and terminating in an ejector and a lever for actuating said piston rod supported adjacent said counter-top and independently of the pump device whereby the pump device may be removed without removal of the actuating means.
, 9. In a dispensing apparatus, in combination with a counter-top having a support therefor, a fluid container and a pump and means for operating the pump supported independently of the pump comprising a bell crank lever pivotally mounted on said support, and engaging the pump and a push rod for actuating said bell crank.
10. A dispensing apparatus comprising, in combination with a counter-top having a top, a fluid container, a pump, and thrust operated means for actuating the pump, all mounted below said counter-top and said fluid container, the pump and'a support for the pump actuating means being within the outer margin therefor, the pump being'provided with means for discharging the fluid laterally.
11. In a dispensing apparatus, in combination with .a counter top having a support therefor, a fluid container, and a pump, means for operating the pump comprising a bell crank lever pivotally mounted on said support and engaging the pump, and a push rod for actuating said lever.
12. In a dispensing apparatus, in combination with a counter top having a sup-' port therefor, a fluid container, and a pump, means for'operating the pump comprising a bell crank lever pivotally mounted on said support and engaging the pump, a push rod for actuating said lever, and a support for said push rod carried by said counter top.

port therefor, a fluid container, and a cover therefor, a force pump device comprising a pump cylinder, a piston rod having at one end a piston and at the other end an extension passing through said cover and provided with a housing, resilient means for lifting said rod interposed between said housing and cover, a discharge pipe passing through said cover and terminating in an ejector, a face plate apertured for the passage of said ejector and supported thereby, and a lever for actuating said piston rod supported adjacent said counter top and independently of the pump device, whereby said pump device may be removed without removal of said actuating means.
14. A dispensing apparatus comprising, in combination, a chamber having therein plurality of fluid containers each provided with a pump and laterally removable from said chamber, independent means'for actuating each of said pumps, independent face plates for closing a part of one face of said chamber located below the top of said cham-. ber, and a cover common to a plurality of containers for closing another part of said face.
15. A dispensing apparatus comprising, in combination, a chamber having therein a plurality of fluid containers each provided with a pump and laterally disposed pump discharging v means, independent means for manually operating each of said pumps, independent face plates for closing a part of one face of said chamber substantially vertically arranged and each being carried on one of said pump discharging means, and a cover common to a plurality of containers for closing another part of said face. i In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of the two subscribed witnesses.
