BOOST.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we,
the county of Stephens and Stateof Oklahoma, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Boosts, of which the following isa specification, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in roosts for chickens or other fowl, and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character including perches adapted to receive a vermin exterminating fluid, and wherein said perches are provided with openings through which the fumes. of the fluid are adapted to pass."
It is also an object of theinvention to provide a device of this general character in cluding a novel and improved perch which is formed from a single strip of material and which is provided with means whereby the same may be conveniently and effectively maintained in applied position.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of our improved roost whereby certain important ad vantages are attained and the device is rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that our invention may be the better understood, we will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings; Wherein.-
Figure 1 is a longitudinal, vertical sectional view taken through a roost constructed in accordance with an embodiment of our invention;
Fig. 2 is a view taken substantially on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view in perspective of an end portion of a perch as herein disclosed.
As herein embodied my improved roost comprises the parallel angle irons 1, supported upon a predetermined incline by the legs 2, also of angle iron and which have their upper extremities operatively connected with the depending side'fianges of the irons 1. The irons or side members 1 Specification of Letters Patent.

are maintained in predetermined spaced relation through the medium of the perchesjP.
' As herein embodied each of the perches P is formed from a single strip of material rolled transversely to afford a substantially cyhndricalbody, with the marginal edges thereof disposed upwardly and substantially in contact. The opposite end portions of the cylindrical perch are flattened, as indicated at 5, and said flattened portions are extended upwardly in substantially the form of an inverted L. The foot 2 of each of the flattened portions 5 is adapted to .cesses 4, affording a filling opening whereby the exterminating fluid may be readily poured within a container afforded by the intermediate tubular or cylindrical portion of the perch P. At opposite sides of the margins of the strip and in predetermined longitudinally spaced relation are openings 6, extending between the flattened end portions 5 of the perch and through which are adapted to escape the fumes of the liquid or fluid within the perch. It will be at once self-evident that the particular position of the openings 6 results in the escape of the fumes to substantially contact with the fowl roosting on the perch so that the vermin on said fowl will be destroyed.
It is also preferred that the meeting edges or margins of a perch which are adjacent and inwardly of the flattened portions 5, be sealed, as indicated at 7, by solder or the like, so that the fluid or liquid may be readily retained within the hollow or intermediate portion of the perch P.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a roost constructed in accordance with our invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that our invention is susceptible of some change and modification without material departure parts herein shown in carrying out our invention in practice, except as hereinafter claimed.
We claim:
1. A roost comprising spaced side members and perches interposed therebetWeen,
.each of said perches having its intermediate portion tubular and its opposite end portions flattened, each of said flattened por-' tions being substantially in the form of an inverted L with its outer portion overlying 'an adjacent side member, and means for securing said outer portion to the side memher, the upper face of the tubular portion of the perch being provided With openings.
2. A roost comprising spaced side mem- 'bers and perches interposed therebetween,
each of said perches having its intermediate portion tubular and its opposite end portions flattened, each of said flattened portions being substantially in the form of an inverted l. with its outer portion overlying an adjacent side member, and means for securing said outer portion to the side memher, the upper face of the tubular portion of the per-3h being provided With openings, said open ngs belng arranged in transversely spaced series, the opemngs of each series extending longitudinally of the tubular portion of the perch.
3. A roost comprising spaced'side members and perches interposed therebetween,
each of said perches having its intermediate portion tubular and its opposite end portions flattened, each of said flattened portions being substantially in the form of an inverted L With its outer portion overlying and intermediate the series of openings be ing provided With a filling opening.
In testimony whereof We hereunto affix our signatures in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
