Be it known that 1Dznnennr D. Hit-Lon- MAmaa citizeniotthefUnited States, residn ing at Aberdeen, in` the` county of Brown and State ofSouth Dakota, have invented lnew and useful Hose-Couplinfr Locks, of
which the following is aspecihcation, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings Vand to the letters and iigures of reference h marked thereon.
This invention relates .to the typt#` rOg' hose#k coupling that comprises tvvofoounterpart .coupler heads of the Classthatis used o-n the ends `of air-brake, air-signal and steamheating pipes on railway cars, `for connectmg `the PIPQS of the different CMS together,
each coupler head being connected "to the pipe by lmeans `of "a section of hose, the coupler heads being connected together in a well known manner; the invention having reference more particularlyto devices for locking the vent leakage at thecoupling joint during operation of the railway trains.

For the purposes of the invention the front of the arm 9 is provided with hinge ears 15 and 16, the arm 9 being provided with similar ears 15 and 16 that extend along the front of the projections 10 and 10 respectively. A pivot 17 is connected to one pair of ears, a similar pivot 17 being connected to the other pair of ears. Each couple'r' head is provided with a lock barto engage the companion head, the lock bar being in theform of a lever that is connected between its ends to the pivot 17 between the ears 15 and 16 so as t0 constitute a locking portion 1S and a lever arm 19 that has an angular portion 2O so that the lever portion extends along the exterior of the hose section 1, the locking portion 18 normally ex-` tending 'against the projection 10 and a suitable distance beyond the projection.` The companion lock bar is connected to the pivot 17 and has a lock portion 18 and also a lever 19', the lock portion being normally l The lock bars are yieldingly held in normal position by ineans ofsp'rings 21 and 21 respectively which preferably are coiled,one spring being seated in a socket'QQ formed in the arm 9 and another socket'QB formed in the lever 19 adjacent to the pivot 17', the spring 21 being seated in a socket 22' formed in the arm 9 and also in a socket 23 formed in the lever 19.
