NON-BEFILLABLE BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
ea-aria To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, VVAsYL WOZNY, a subject of the Emperor of Austria, resident of Boundbrook, county of Somerset, and State of New Jersey, and PAUL HUSAK, a subject of the Emperor of Austria, resident of Boundbrook, county of Somerset, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in bottles and particularly to types known as non-refillable.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a bottle having means whereby unauthorized renewal or substitution of the contents is prevented.
A. further object is to provide such means in forms which are relatively, inexpensive to construct, and readily applied in such manner as to form substantially a part of the bottle walls at the mouth or neck thereof.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel design, construction and combination of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this specification and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a bottle made in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmental vertical sectional view taken substantially on the center line of the bottle. I
Fig. 3 is an enlarged transverse sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a side elevational view of the retainer used to engage the parts with the bottle, and
Fig. 5 is a perspective view showing the valve arrangemen The bottle is indicated by the numeral 10, and made of any ordinary or special shape as desired, the same terminating in a mouth 11, containing an interior annular flange 12, the shoulders at the top and bottom of which are formed abruptly.
The top of the bottle has secured to it a dome-shaped cap preferably made of metal, and having a through openin 16 at its uper end, the lower end being ormed with a plurality of slits 17, the teeth 18 remaining between the slits being turned upward, forming hooks 19 at their bottom edges, which are adapted to engage w'th the lower side Application filed July 6, 1917,

Serial no. 179,018. v
of the flange 12 when sprung into position, the act of pressingthe teeth toward each other when inserting providing a curved surface 20, adapted to engage with the upper edge of the flange 12 in a manner clearly shown in Fig. 2, the cap being held rigidly in position by means of cement 21, thereby providing a smooth exterior in conformity with the upper portion of the bottle.
Engaged in the cover 15, at a point substantially in register with the upper end of the slit17, is a band 24 to which is hingedly engaged by means of a pin 25, a lever 26 having attached at its outer end a valve 28, substantially central of the opening to the bottle mouth, and adapted to cover an opening 30 formed in the plate 33, secured within the cap 15 immediately below the band 24:, and held therein by a suitable cement 31 through the center of which extends an opening 34 co-incident with the opening 30 through the plate 33.
In operation, the metallic cap 15 having been inserted within the bottle neck until the hook elements 19 are engaged below the flange as indicated, the bottle is ready for use. When it is desired to remove a part c the contents, the bottle is inverted, thereby permitting the contents to issue through the band 2 k and opening 34 to wherever it is desired to dispense the same.
When it is attempted to refill the contents however, the valve 28 rests upon the plate 33 so that liquid poured into the top of the bottle through the opening 16 meets with an obstruction presented by the valve 28, closing the opening 30 and is thus prevented from entering into the interior of the bottle.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is-- 1. The combination with a bottle, of an interior annular flanged edge formed at the mouth thereof, an annular cover suited to be received within said bottle, said cover having a contracted entrance, a plurality of spring fingers formed integrally with said cover, hooks at the extremities of said fingers, said hooks being engageable with the flanged neck of said bottle, a plate secured transversely of said casing, said plate having a single central orifice, a band secured in sai cover, adjacent to said plate, and a valve in said band, said valve being adapted to cover the orifice through said plate when the bottle is in an upright position,
2. In a bottle comprising a hollow recepa normally open top, a flanged annulus projecting therein, a cover at the upper surface of said bottle, resilient fingers formed with said cover engageable with said flange at the lower side thereof, means for said bottle,
tion aflixed transversely within said cover,
ggple s of this patent n; ay he obtained {for five cents each, b
ounting said plate, said band 3 e interior of said cusalve pivotally engaged being adapted eof We have affixed our AUL HUSAK.
