Specification forming-part of Letters Patent No.1.'24,766, dated March 19, 1872.

and D, the doors of the furnace. E is the ashpit, and F are its doors provided with airinlets. Gr is a second fire-chamber, having a grate, H, and an ash-pit, I, provided with a drawer. J K are respectively the independent flues of the two ire-chambers terminating in the common ue L. M is the steam or gas outlet from the retort, and N is a perforated chamber to contain the article to be heated.
The advantage of combining the two fires With retort-chamber is economy of time in heating and a comparative saving in the `fuel. Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I desire to protect by Letters Patent is The close chamber C having pipe M, the nre-chamber A having outlet J, and the rechamber Gr having outlet K, all combined, constructed, and arranged as and for the purpose specified.
