Be it known that I, ALBERT E. DQMA-N, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Elbridge, in the county of Onondaga, in the Stateof New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Motor-Generators,
of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full,

A reinforcing shell or tube -11 of mag netizable sheet metal and preferably of pressed steel is .tightly fitted flat-wise within the polygonal portion of the shell -1- and is therefore of substantially the sametransverse form and exterior size as the interior of this portion of the shell so as to contact therewith at all points and thereby not only strengthen the shell but also build up its magnetic field to the desired cross section, it being understood of course that the sides of the shell and its reinforcement are substantially fiat.
The length of this reinforcement is somewhat less than that of the larger portion of the shell in which it is mounted and terminates short of the ends thereof to'correspond approximately to the length of the pole pieces, as 12', which are secured against the inner faces of the flat sides of the reinforcement by screws 13 passing through registering bolt holes in the shell 1. and ring -11-- so that the same screws serve to hold the shell, ringand pole pieces in fixed relation.

By using pressed steel for the main shell and its reinforcement, the weight of the case may be greatly reduced and its strength and durability greatly increased, the reinforcing ring serving not only to stifien the case but also to give it the necessary field for magnet circuits.
What I claim is A case for dyneme electric machines comprising two coaxial pressed steel tubes, both magnetizable and tightly fitted one within the other so as to contact fiatwise at all points about-their axes, pale pieces in contact with the inner face ef the inner tube,
and. clamping bolts passed through both tubes and engaged with the pole pieces for clamping the inner tube firml to the outer tube, and holding the pole pwew in operative position.
