APPLICATION man APR.21.1917.

W/ /VESSES www? SAMUEL LIONEL JEFFERIES, OF SPARTANBURG, SGUTI-I CAROLINA.
DENTAL MIXING-SLAB.
Application led April 21, 1917.
To all whom t 'may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL LIONEL JEF- rninns, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Spartanburg, in the county of Spartanburg and State of South Carolina, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dental Mixing-Slabs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in slabs, 21nd has for its object to provide a slab especially designed for mixing plastic material, for use by dentists and the like, wherein the slab is so arranged that it may be used more than once without the necessity of cleaning the slab, the slab being provided with two or more mixing faces.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view of one embodiment of the invention;
Fig. 2 is a transverse section;
Fig. 8 is a perspective View of another embodiment of the invention; and
Fig. l is a transverse section of the saine.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Fig. 1, the slab l, which is of glass or other like material, is in the form of a block havingan approximately square cross section. Upon each face of the block there is provided a recess 2 formed by cutting away the surface of the block from one face of the block, the said cut away surface being par tially inclOsed by ribs 3 and 4t at one side and the ends of the face. The reduced or out away portion provides a mixing face On which the plastic material may be held.
Each faCe of the block is provided with a cut away port-ion 2, and it will be Obvious that when one face has been used, it is only necessary to cause the block to turn and an- Specication of Letters Patent.

other face is ready for use. Thus four 1nixing operations may be performed with the same slab before it is necessary to clean the same.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 3 and at, the slab is in the forni of a block of glass or the like, having a rectangular cross section, and the upper and lower faces of the block have the out away or recessed portions 6 forming mixing faces for the block. Each of these faces is partially inclosed by ribs 7 and 8 at one side and the ends of the slab. With the slab shown in Figs. 3 and le two mixing operations may be performed before it is necessary to clean the block.
It will be noticed, from an inspection Of Figs. 2 and et, that all of the cut away portions are similarly arranged, so that as each block is rotated on its long axis the faces will be brought into proper position in succession.
I claim: l
l. A slab, comprising a block having a rectangular cross section., and having each face cut away to form a mixing recess, said recesses being similarly arranged and each recess extending to one face of the block throughout the length of the recess.
2. A. slab having a plurality of mixing recesses, said recesses being on opposite faces of the slab.
