To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I," \ViLFRED ,OTIMER, a citizen of the United States, residingat Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have'invented'certain new and useful Improvements in Fare-Boxes, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawing. i
This invention relates to fare boxes and was fully describedand shown in applicants (Jo-pending application, filed Dec. 30, 1911, Ser. No. 668,612, the present application constituting a division thereof. a A

' In these drawings I have illustrated one embodiment of my invention "and have shown the fare box for transfers as comprising a. suitable receptacle 85 into'which the transfers'and the like are fed; The transfers after being marked fall intoa suitable receptacle at the bottom of the receptacle; 85, such as a drawer which is not shown; The receptacle is provided with a suitable chute 86 through which the transfer may be inserted into the box. Mounted'i-n the transfer portion of the box, which will be termed the transfer box, is suitable mechanism for canceling or printing upon the transfer certain desirable data. In thepresent'instance this data includes the date, the time the transfer is received, the line number and also another number. Further, the'present device 1s rovided with a visual counter which dis'p' ays the number printed upon the transfer. It will be understood that the mechanism for printing this data may be of any suitable character. For the purpose of illustrating the invention I have here shown the same as comprising a printing cylinder 87 upon which the printing devicesare mounted and a. platen 88 arranged to cooperate with the printing devices of the oylinder'87. In a fare box having a transfer compartment, a feed chute converging downwardly from the outside of the box and provided with an opening at its lower end, a rotatable drum journaled in said compart ment with its periphery adjacent said opening, a platen likewise mounted adjacent the opening and cooperating with said drum, printing devices rotatably mounted on said drum, axially arranged devices for adjusting said printing devices, devices to print a consecutive number rotatably mounted on an axis spaced around the drum from the axis of said first mentioned printing devices, and provided with a gear fixed thereto, a fixed projection directly and periodically engaging the teeth of said gear to advance the consecutive numbering devices at every revolution of the drum, and means for rotatin the drum.

In a fare box having a transfer compartment, a feed chute converging downwardly from the outside of the box and provided with an opening at its lower end, a rotatable drum journaled in said compartment with its periphery adjacent said opening, a platen adjacent said opening and cooperating with said drum, printing devices rotatably mounted on said drum, axially arranged devices for adjusting said printing devices, devices to print a consecutive number rotatably mounted on said drum and provided with a gear fixed thereto, a fixed projection directly and periodically engaging the teeth of said gear to advance the consecutive numbering devices at every revolution of the drum, and means for rotating the drum.

In a fare box having a transfer compartment, a feed chute converging downwardly from the outside of the box and provided with an opening at its lower end, a rotatable drum journaled in said compartment with its periphery adjacent said opening, a platen adjacent the opening and cooperating with said drum, printing devices rotatably mounted on said drum, axially arranged devices for adjusting said printing devices, devices to print a consecutive number rotatably mounted on an axis spaced around the drum from the axis of said first mentioned printing devices, and provided with a gear fixed thereto, a fixed projection directly and periodically engaging the teeth of said gear to advance the consecutive numbering devices at every revolution of the drum, an indicator actuated by said drum, and means for rotating the drum.

In a device of the character described, a frame, a rotatable drum mounted on said frame, a platen cooperating with said drum and constituting therewith feeding devices, printing devices rotatably mounted on said drum, axially arranged devices for adjusting said printing devices, devices to print a consecutive number rotatably mounted on an axis spaced around the drum from the axis of said first mentioned printing devices, and provided with a toothed gear fixed to said last mentioned printing devices, a fixed projection adapted to directly and periodically engage said gear to advance said consecutive numbering devices at every revolution of the drum and means for rotating the drum.
