QNVENTOR W ATTORNEY rnnoY o. TAYLOR-9F cononnno, CALIFORNIA,
, DISPLAY-STAND.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PERoY O. TAYLOR, a citizen of England, residing at Coronado,
in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Stands, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved display stand especially adapted for use by jewelers for showing rings, brooches, bracelets, watches, and other articles of jewelry, the object of the invention being to provide an improved stand of this kind which is adapted to hold the displayed articles in the most attractive position and which is simple in construction, may be readily adjusted for use with articles of difierent size andwhich is extremely attractive in appearance.
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a displayed stand constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention, and showing the same especially adaptedfor use in displaying a ring.
Fig. 2 is an elevation of the same.
Figs. 3, 4: and 5 are perspective views of modified forms of my display stand, respectively adapted for use for displaying brooches, bracelets and watches.
My improved display stand comprises a front or display member 1 and a rear or prop member 2 for holding the display memher in inclined position. As here shown the stand is of inverted V-shape. The stand may be made of any suitable material and is preferably covered with velvet to enhance its appearance and attractiveness and to also form a suitable background for the displayed article. A rod 3 which is horizontally arranged, connects the members 1, 2 of the stand and passes through openings in the centers of said members. The front portion of the rod is non-circular in cross section and the opening in the member 1 through which the rod passes is provided with a correspondingly shaped eye 4: to prevent the rod from turning. The rear portion of the rod is screw threaded as at 5- and is provided with a nut 6 which bears against the rear side of the member 2. A coiled extensile spring 7 is arranged on the rod and between the members and holds the members in the desired relative position.

' Referring especially to the form of the inventionshown in Figs. 1 and Q'and in which i' the stand is especially adapted for displaynga vring, the rod is provided at its'fiorit end with a cross arm 8 to bear under the ring and in rear of the setting, said cross arm having up-turned ends 9. An arm 10 pro- ]ects upwardly from the rod at a point a suitable distance from the cross arm and is adapted to engage in the rear side of the shank of the ring, the spring 7 causing the ring shank to be clamped and held between said arm 10 and the front member 1 of the stand. Hence the ring is securely held on the front portion of the rod in horizontal position and is displayed to the best possible advantage.
In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 3 in which the stand is especially adapted for displaying a brooch, as indicated at I) in dotted lines, the rod has its cross bar provided with forwardly extending horizontally arranged arms 11.
In the form of the invention shown in Fig. l, in which the stand is especially adapted for displaying bracelets, as at c, the rod has a pair of forwardly extending horizontally arranged fork arms 12 to bear under the bracelet, said fork arms having up-turned ends 13.
In the form of the invention shown in have it understood that changes may be made in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts without departing from the spirit of my invention and within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim p 1. A display stand of the class described comprising a front member, a prop member, a rod connecting and longitudinally adjustable in said members, said rod being provided at its front end with means to engage and hold the displayed article, and a spring arranged between the members of the stand.
L. A display stand of the class described comprising a front member, a prop member, a rod connecting and longitudinally adjustable in said members, said rod beingprovided at its front end With means to engage and hold the displayed article, and a spring arranged between the members of the stand, and on said rod.
3. A display stand of the class described 10 comprising a front member, a prop member, a rod connecting and longitudinally adjustable in said members, said rod being provided at its front end With means to engage and hold the displayed article, a spring arranged betWeen the members of the stand, 15
