BATH-CHAIR.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK Burn/r, a citi-' zen of the United States, and a resident of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Bath-Chair; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to thecharacters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of thls specification.

This invention relates to a chair for use in a bath tub, and has for its ob ect the provision of an improved article of this character which is simple and inexpensive in its construction, easily and quickly adjustable to vary the height of the seat por tion thereof and capable of being easily applied to or removed from a bath tub.

The invention is fully described in the following specification, and while, in its broader aspect, it is capable of embodiment in numerous forms, a preferred embodiment thereof is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,-'

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bath tub with a portion thereof broken away and with a chair embodying the invention mounted therein. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of a chair embodying the invention. Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation thereof, and Fig. 1 is an enlarged perspective view of the seat member of the chair.

Referring to the drawings, 1, 1 des gnate two uprights or standards which are rigidly connected in spaced parallel relation by rungs 2 or other suitable members, and cooperate therewith to form the frame or body of the chair. The upper end of each upright or standard 1 is provided or formed with a rearwardly projecting hook 3 for engaging over the upper edge of a bath tub as shown in Fig. 1. The standards 1 are of suitable length to adapt their lower ends to rest on the tub bottom in slighly spaced relation to the side thereof by which carried when the hooks 3 are in engagement with the upper edge of the side.

The rungs 2 and studs 6 provide three vertically spaced sets in the present instance, with any set of which the seat bars 5 may be engaged, depending on the height at which it may be desired to place the seat. It is evident that when the seat bars 5 are in engagement with a set of rungs or studs, such members coact with the bars to maintain the seat in horizontal position when the standards 1, l are in set-up engagement with the tub, as shown in Fig. 1. a Each seat bar 5 is provided at its lower rear edge with a shoulder or downwardly extending lug 7 to cooperate with the lower member of the supporting set of studs or rungs to prevent an accidental forward withdrawal of the bars from engagement therewith.

It is evident that I have provided a simple chair which is adapted for use within a bath tub, and that the seat member thereof is capable of being easily and quickly adjusted to suit the height at which the persog using the same desires to sit within the tu I wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction or arrangement of the parts, as it is capable of numerous modifications without departing from the spirit of the claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is-
