ANIMAL-YOKE.

Be it known that I, VILLIAM L. MCGILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Foster, in the county of Bracken and State of Kentucky, have invented certain useful Improvements in Animal- Yokes, of which the following' is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing'.

rlhis invention relates to improvements in animal yokes or pokes, one object of the invention being the provision of a humane device of this character which is readily attached in use and which is durable, inexpensive and light in construction.

In the accompanying drawings 1- Figure l is a front elevation 'of the complete yoke or poke, the same being closed.

Fig. 2 is a side elevation or" the same.

Referringr to the drawings, two members 5 and 6, are each made from a piece of pipe, being; held relatively to each other by means of the curved tubular member 7 which has mounted therein the spring actuated pins 8 which project toward the shoulder of the animal and form suiicient resistance to prick the animal in attempting to jump fences or go through the same.

A cross bar 9 is attached to both members 5 and 6 intermediate of their lower ends and the member 7 so as to brace the same and prevent their changing their relative positions.

upper end of the member 5, while carried at the opposite end is the springhook or catch l2 for engagement with the locking socket 13, formed in the upper end of the member 6.

F rom the foregoing description, it is evident that the present device is readily applied upon the neck of the animal by simply releasing the neck piece l0 to the position as shown in Fig, 3, and snapping the same about the neck to assume the position as shown in Fig. l.

and adapted to the same curvature as the main body portion of said member and being secured against the inner sides of said members, a plurality of pins disposed in the main length of said restraining member and slidable therein and being disposed at right angles to the length of said member, and springs in said restraining' member forming resilient backing` for said pins.
