To' @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known thaty L'Gnonon Oil);` FLA Dries, a lcitizen ofthe United States, residing at East Arlington, inthe county-of Bennington and State of Vermont, have invented an Improvement in Mirror-Braclrets; of which the following is a specification.
rhis inventionv relates to a mirror bracket particularly adapted for toilet purposes such asshavingforexample, and'` is so cnstructed as to be readily secured in'position on thevcasing of, a window, jamb of a door, the rail of a window, or other'is-imilar places, and as readily adjusted 'to the 'position for use. l andr aware that heretofore various devices have beenconstructed for supporting mirrors for similar uses, but in 4allof these so far as has comerto my knowledge, it has been either necessary Yto permanently mount'them iny placey or gtor sri/construct them as to maliethemadapted"to be placed incertain finednposition'sl" The principal object of my invention is the pro vision of a mirror braclretzthe' base of which may be readily's'ecured' in position' against any window casing; doorfjamb7 or similar place, and as easily removed therefrom, the same being adapted to be attached to any ordinary window' casingforfdoor jamb' and when secured against the same, the` other partsl of the bracket may be adjusted to ypio-cv sition for use. The partsarefalsol so Aconstructed as to be readily foldable'to assume a relatively small space so as'to be carried aboutiin grips or hand bags by travelers with iis-little inconvenience as possible, and at thesame'time the device maybe set up for use at a monients notice and at any place.
ln carrying out this invention I preferably employ a base bar adapted at its eX- tremities to engage the sides of a window casing, door jambj or similar place, an arm which is pivotally mounted in the base bar and revoluble to position therein, means being provided to maintain the arm in any required position, together with a series of rods preferably connected vpivotally together, and also at one end to the arm, While at the other they are adapted to support a mirror or other similar device as will be hereinafter more particularly described.
ln the drawing:
1Figure 1 is an elevation illustrating the use of my improved mirror bracket.
Fig@ is an enlarged frontelevationof the saine showing, the parts folded together when not in use and illustrating' the mirror in v dotted or broken lines.
Fig. Sis a plan viewfof the` bracket-illustratingthe parts in thek position assumed in" Figil, and l vlihg, 4 is' lan enlarged, cross section on line F 1g.k 3.
Referring to thedrawing it ywill be seen that in carrying olitm'y invention lfemploy a basebar l'which may be 'mad'e'of metal or any similar material, the Lends 11 and 12 off/which are overturned v and pointed or sharpened' at opposite angles asl indicated at; 13 and 14; that is to' say, the point/f '13 'is directed toward one'side of the base bar while the p'ointMis directedtowardthe opposite side thereof. The distance'biety'veen these pointed ends of the'base barl is'jnormallygreater than the ordinary distance between the side's of a window casing;` a door jamb, a window rail, or v'other"similar structurey so that this? base bar indy-"be placed against the'falce of the window case inge for example; as indicated inFig.' Land` turned so as to insert the pointed ends'iiito `the sides offthe windowcasing in order to support the apparatusz it' being understood i that it is only'necessaryto cause the points toA penetrateV the side*` of the casing a'fiela-` tively small 4distance in vorder to "secured the bracket in position for use.l
s clearly indicated ,in 4, the base bar 10 is centrallyprovided with ai platel which" is securedl thereto by'rive'ts` 16px* otherwise. The arm v1'?` is `pivotally connected in the plate 15 as indicated at 18 and Vfixed on this pivotal point or to the plate 15 is a ratchet 19. The arm 17 carries a pawl 20 which may be secured thereto by a stud 21 or otherwise around which one end of the pawl passes, while at its opposite end this pawl is adapted to engage the teeth of the ratchet 19.
On the face of the arm 17 there is a pin 22 to which at one end a rod 23 is pivotally connected. Also on the outer face of the f Eatented @ct-31W .1917.
arm 17 is a stop 24 which acts to limit the l to the greater portion of the rod as indicated at 29, and adapted to pass through suitable openings proi'ided therefor in they bracket 30 on the reverse side of a mirror 3l.
The hereinbefore described apparatus may be folded with the arni l? lying in line with the base bar 10 and the rods 2B, 25 and 26 folded together to assume the position shown in Fig'. 2, when ot course the mirror may be disconnected and kept in a separate place. When using the apparatus the parts are unfolded and the base bar placed against` a Window traine 32, for example, with the inner tace of the bar against the surface of the casing, and the points 18 and le ot the overturned ends of the bar forced into the sides of the casing by a slight twisting movement of the base bar. This as understood will be possible irrespective of the Width of the Window casing so long as the same is not Wider than the distance between the points on the end of the base bar. On the base bar thus adjusted, the arm l? inay be turned countercloclr-Wise to such a position thatthe rod 223 will be substantially horizontal when as will be understood, the arins 25 and 26` Ina-y be adjusted on each other to assunie any desired position supporting the mirror 3i at the Jree end thereof.
l clairn as roy invention:
l. A inirror bracket comprising a base bar having ends overturned in opposite directions and pointed so as to engage the sides of .a Window casing or similar structure, an arin mounted in said base bar7 and rods connected to one another and 'at one end secured to the said yarm and at the other end adapted to support the mirror.
2. A mirror bracket comprising a` base bar having endsvoverturned inopposite directions and/pointed to engage the sides ot a winden1 casing or similar structure, an arm pivotally mounted in said base bar, means for inaiiitainingl said arin in different positions relatively to the 1oase bar, andk rods pivotally connected to one another and at one end secured in the said arm and at the other end adapted to support a mirror.
i niirror bracketI comprising a base bar ha ving its ends overturned in opposite directions and pointed so as to grip the opposite sides of a Window casing or siinilar structure, an arni pivotally mounted in the said base bar, a ratchet secured to the base bar, a paivl carried by the arin for supportingl the saine in any desired position relatively to the base bar, and a series of rods pivoted together and secured at one end in the said arin and at the opposite end adapted to support a mirror.
l niirror bracket comprising va base bar having its ends overturned in opposite direct-ions and pointed so as to grip the opposits sides ot Aa Window casing or similar structure, an arm pivot-ally inounted in the said base bar, a ratchet secured to the base bar,V a paivi carried by the ai'ni for supporti' o' the sainein any desired position relatively to the base bar, a series of rods pivoted together and secured at one end in the said arni and at the opposite end adapted to supporta .inirronl and a stop iiXed inthe said arin for determining the position of the said rods.
5. i inirror bracket comprising a base bar having its ends overturned in opposite directions and pointed so as to grip the opposite sides ot va Window casing-g,l or similar structure, an arin pivotally mount-ed in the said base bar, a ratchet secured to the base bar, a iarvicarried by the arin tor supporting` the saine in any desired position rel@- t-ively to the base bar. a series of rods pivotally connectedl togetherV and at one end pivotally connected to the said arm, thc op- `gosite end ot the said rods being upturned to receive and support a inirror, and a stop i determining,l the position ot the said rod ispivotally connected the arin.
