PUMP ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Get. 23, 1917.
Application filed October 9, 1916. Serial No. 124,603.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN TRAIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at WVessingt-on Springs, in the county of J erauld and State of South Dakota, have invented a new and useful Pump Attachment, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a water distributing or directing device adapted to be arranged for example in a pump line to direct water to a tank or reservoir, and having means whereby the flow may be diverted into another tank or into a receptacle such as a bucket or pail.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein described can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a side view of the device constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of same.
The apparatus embodying the invention consists of a receiver 10 in communication with a supply pipe 11, which may be led from a pump or other source and provided with outlets 12 and 13, one of which may be in communication with a distributing line 14 to convey water to a tank or other reservoir. Arranged in the receiver between the said outlets is a partition 15, and swiveled be- Gopies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the tween the supply pipe and the neck 15 of the receiver is a directing spout 16 depending from a thi mble 17 fitted in a supply pipe and provided with a flange 18 operating in contact with a flange 19 on said neck. A gravity or other latch 20 may be hingedly mounted upon the flange 18 to engage notches 21 in the flange 19 to hold the spout in its adjusted positions.
It is obvious the spout may be turned in either direction to deposit the water in one or the other of the chambers of the receiver, so as to direct the liquid to one or the other of the receptacles provided for that purpose. Such an apparatus will be found convenient as a means of permitting water to be drawn at intervals from a pipe line where ordinarily it is directed into a reservoir tank.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
A water distributing or directing device, comprising a receiver adapted to hang from the discharge nozzle of a pump, said receiver provided with discharge ports, a partition in the receiver forming compartments each communicating with a discharge port, a directing spout entering the pump nozzle and the receiver, and means for turning the spout to selectively direct water into either compartment.
In testimony that I cla1m the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
