To all whom 'it may concern: v
Be it known that I, IRA L. MOORE, a subject of the'King of Great Britain, residing at Springvale, in the county of York and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steam-Boilers and IV do hereby declare the following to be a'full,A clear, and exact description of 'the invention, such as will enable othersvskilled in the art to which `it appertains tomake and use the same.
The primary object of this invention, is to provide a novel type ofl steam boiler for use in heating dwellings, and of suchconstruction that the same can be manufactured cheaply and easily installed. v
Another object of the inventionis to provide a boiler, of this nature, so constructed vvthat steam can be generated in a very short period. .e
A further object of the invention is the provision of a steam boiler, designed to be heated by liquid or gaseous fuel, and which boiler is provided with passages therein for the circulation of the heat from the burner.
' Other objects will appear and be better understood from that embodiment of my invention of which the following is a specication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part thereof, in which:

Y y Y A Referring to the drawings in detail, the boiler is shown as comprising an outer casing orshell 1 and a pair of spaced inner bodies or shells designated, respectively, by the numerals 2 and 3. vThe inner bodiesY or shells 2 and 3 have their upper ends terminating in the `same plane and disposed below and in spaced relation with the upper end of the casing 1, and each is formed of an outer cylindrical wall 4 and an inner inverted frusto-conical shaped wall 5, the outer wall 4 of the body 2 being arranged in spaced relation with the inner surface of the body 1. Each body or shell has the upper ends of the walls 4 and5 connected by a web, the webs connecting the respective walls V4 and 5 being designated by the lnumeral 6 and serve as closures for the upper ends of the spaces between the outer and inner walls 4 and 5 of each of the bodies 2 and'3.

A conical'shaped tube 9 extends through the body or shell 3, and the .lower end of the innerwall 5 of the shell 3 and the lowerl end ofthe tube ,9 lie above the `lower. end of theouter'wall 4 of the shell 3 and are connected by means of a web 10.
The `upper end ofthe casing 1 is formed to provide Va steam dome 11, and passing centrally through the dome 11 is the upper end 12 of the tube. 9. y A pair of steam outlet pipes 13l and 14 are arranged, respectively, von opposite sides of the upper end 12 of the tube 9 andarranged in. communication with the interior of the. dome 11, and the said -pipe is designed to be connected with suitable pipes, not shown, that communicate with different lradiators in the building.
Vertically disposedv tubes 15, of arcuate shape in cross section, are arranged within the dome 11 and have their lower ends communicating with the spaces between the inner and outer .walls of the respective bodies 2 and 3, by means of openings `16 formed in the connecting webs 6, and the upper ends of the tubes 15 icommunicate with openings V17 formed in the upper wall of the dome 11. The space between the casing 1 and the outer wall of the inner body 2 and the space between the inner wall of the body 2 and the outer wallof the body 3, provide water chambers designated, respectively, by the numerals 18 and 19, and are connected at their lower endsat a diametrically opposite point by means of .tubes or pipes 20, which extend across the lower end of the space between the outer and inner walls of the body 2. Likewise the space between the inner wall 5- and the tube 9 provides a water chamber 21, which'has connection with the chamber between the bodies 2 and 3 by means of connecting tubes 22, which are arranged atdiametr'ically opposite points and above the tubes 1S. The spaces between the inner and outer walls of the respective bodies 2 and 3 are opened, at thelower ends, likewise the' lower end of the tube 9, is opened,

he water chambers in the boiler are of unequal depth and are to be supplied with water from a feeder 23. This feeder includes a body which has an inlet pipe 24 extending through one side thereof and has the inner end thereof arranged in communication with a vertically disposed hollow body 25, the upper end of which is` normally closed by ,means of `an inwardly lmovable valve 26. The valve 26 has a stem 27 formed thereon, which projects through the body 19 and is connected to the armv of a float 28, the said arm of the float .being pivoted to the wall of the feeder 23, as shown at 29.
The pipe 24 is connected with a suitable water supply, not shown, which may be either a tank or a water main.
A pipe 30 communicates the lower end of the feeder 23 with the lower end of the water chamber 13, and that end of the pipe 30, which is connected to the feeder 23 is closed by means of a screen 31. A check valve 32 is located within the pipe 30 and serves to prevent back iow of the water from the boiler.
A pipe 33 communicates the upper end of the feeder 23 with the dome 11 and -admits of steam'from the dome passing into the upper end of the feeder 23, so as to equalize the pressure within the boiler, and the feeder, and assist in the flow of water through the pipe 24. A check valve 34 is located within the pipe 33 and is adapted to be opened by the pressure of steam in the dome and to prevent the return of steam from the feeder to the dome.
ln use, water is permitted to iow from the feeder to the water chambers in vthe boiler. The burner, to be used, is lighted and the heat from the same passes up through the air passages in the boiler and will. heat the water so as to generate steam in the dome 11. Some of the steam generated will pass through the pipe 33, and as soon as the pressure therein is sufficient ,to unseat the valve 34 the steam will enter the feeder 23 and assist the flow of water through the pipe 30 to the boiler. `When the water level, in the feeder, lowers, the float 23 will descend and open the valve 26, so asv to admit ,of the water passing from the body 25 to the feeder, so that the desired level is again reached.
rllhe boiler is provided with a water gage 35 and the lower end of the feeder 23fis provided with a discharge cock 36, by means of which the feeder can be drained when it is desired to clean the feeder. rlhe check valve is pivoted, at a point below the Lipper end thereof, to the lower endof a depending and curved bracket 37. A set screw 33 is adjustably mounted through the upper side of the pipe 30 and extends diagonally and is adjustable against the upper end of *the check valve 32. When it is desired to empty the feeder 23v and the boiler so as to admit ofthe A.interiors thereof to be cleaned, the discharge cock is opened and the set lscrew 38 is adjusted against the upper end of the check valve 32, so as tov raise the valve to establish communication between the feeder and the boiler, to admit of the water in the boiler discharging into the feeder yand out through .the 'discharge cock 36. l
lt will, of course, .ie understood that no limitation is to beplaced .on the number of inner shells or bodies to be fitted within the outer body 1, for, if desired, only one may be employed', or if deemed necessary three or more. Y
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new, is:
1. The combination with a boiler having a steam dome and a feeder for the boiler, of a pipe establishing communication between the lower end of the feeder and the boiler, a check valve within the pipe, a screw adjustable through the pipe and against the check valve, a second pipe establishing communication between the Vupper end of the feeder and the dome of the boiler, and a check valve positioned within the last-mentioned pipe, for the purpose specified.
2. A boiler of the class described comprising a casing, apair of annular bodies located within the casing and disposed in concentric relation and having their upper ends spaced from the upper end of the casing to define a steam dome, each of theY annular bodies consisting of a substantially frusto-conical shaped outer wall and an inverted substantially frusto-conical shaped inner wall spaced from the outer wall so as to provide a flue restricted toward its upper end, the outer wall ofthe outermost annular body being spaced from the, innery surface of the casing, and the outer wall' of the innermost annular body being spaced from the inner wall of the outermost annular body so as to provide water chambers which are restricted toward their lower ends, a web, connecting the lower end of the outer wall of the outermost annular body to the lower en d of the wall of the casing, a web connecting the lower end of the outer wall of the innermost annular body to the lower end of the inner wall of the outermost annular body, a web connecting the upper ends of the inner and outer walls of each annular body to eachother and provided with openings, tubes establishing com- 'l munication between the water chambers, tubes extending through the steam dome and of arcuate shape in cross section and having communication with the openings in the connecting webs for the upper ends of the walls of the respective inner bodies, a tube extending through the innermost annular body and spaced therefrom and de- 10 creasing in diameter from the lower end thereof to the upper end, and a web connecting the lower end of the wall of the last-mentioned tube to the lower end of the wall of the innermost annular body.
